The south end of king street in Newtown is often known as the more bohemian end and it shouldn’t be overlooked for cool vibes and spots for your next casual drink or pub meal or night spot with friends or family.

Recently visited the Botany View Hotel which has had a new change in management who have revamped the venue with an updated trend cocktail and drinks menu together with a banging menu to include your usual pub classics such as a chicken parmigiana or steak and also some modern twists such as it’s Korean fried cauliflower.

The hotel also hosts a variety of live gigs and entertainment events worth checking out including live jazz and karaoke nights. Plus it’s also a dog friendly venue! Also check out their roof top garden which is like a hidden oasis in the middle of busting king street.

We dined during the week and tried the following:

? All 3 tacos (bulgogi beef, halloumi and fried fish) - highly recommend ⭐️
?Korean fried cauliflower - highly recommend, a great vegetarian dish ⭐️
? Pan fried barramundi with cauliflower purée and greens
? Chicken parmigiana - great standard classic
? Green beacon brewing co passionfruit sour
? Strawberry mint fizz

They also do a Sunday roast complete with Yorkshire pudding and also live jazz music which I’ll have to come back for next time!

I visited the Botany View Hotel in Newtown with a friend for the first time last week and both of us had a great time. We met after work to catch-up over a few drinks and nibbles. The staff were friendly and recommended us a table outside on the rooftop area to soak up the sunshine. The venue is dog friendly, so we were greeted by many cute furry friends. They have a great range of flavourful cocktails, beers and food to choose from - our favourites were the Topless Yao cocktail, halloumi tacos and you can’t go wrong with a pub classic; steak, which did not disappoint us. As we were leaving, we overheard a game of trivia being played which sounded like great fun. I'll definitely be joining in next time! Unfortunately on the night we went (Tuesday), there was no live music which would have been great to hear. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I’d definitely visit again for some food, drinks and night of entertainment.

We ordered the ,Korean Cauliflower Bites, Guacamole dip with beans and corn chips, Botany Burger, Steak & chips and some cocktails. Everything was great and we would definitely go back to try the classic chicken parma and the cheeseburger as they also looked delicious!
What we loved the most was that the hotel was dog friendly and the staff were really friendly and laid back. There are a number of private rooms that have been designed with comfort and aesthetics in mind, and the outdoor rooftop area is perfect for an afternoon feed.
This venue has everything you need to have a good time! Whether you feel like playing some trivia, watching a live band, doing some karaoke, or just wanting to play some pool whilst sipping some delicious cocktails or beers, botany view hotel is definitely the place to go.
