We've been going to the Chart House for over 30 years and it is still our favorite place for a good meal, live music, and lots of aloha. The staff is friendly, food is always perfect, and everybody has a great time. This is definitely a Waikiki must!! Mahalo Chart House for the ono grinds and great time!
We went to the lounge for happy hour and sunset on recommendation. We had to put up with a little sun in our eyes for about 15 minutes, then as the sun set, they opened the shades. The view of the marina was glorious. We ordered pupu from the happy hour menu. Everything was delicious. I especially loved the Ahi Wontons. I will dream about them. Great Mai Tais and live music. A wonderful experience.
Sitting across the Ala Wai harbor separated only by an access road sits the Chart House Waikiki.  This open air restaurant offers table that literally hang outside the building.  As you enter the small stairway you enter a cozy bar accompanied by live music.  The hustle and bustle of the city is blocked as the only view to be had is of the harbor which gives you the feel of a local fisherman's hangout.  The small bar is loaded with a huge selection of alcohol and the bartender was masterful churning out drinks for bar patrons and wait staff for the tables.  There is a tv playing sports for bar patrons to enjoy and they do serve food there.  We sat at the bar and ordered a couple drinks while we waited for our party to arrive. Drinks   Guy Tai - 10/10 Guy's World Famous Hand-Crafted Mai Tai. Bacardi and Meyer's Rum Shaken and Served in a Logo Glass (Add 3.00 and Keep the Souvenir Logo Glass). Well balanced Fruit and alcohol that will knock you on your back end if you aren't careful.  My colleagues switched from their Long Island iced teas to this drink and were quite happy to do so as these are served in a typical pint glass and the long islands were served in a cocktail glass. Mojtini - 9/10  Alize Rose & Finlandia Grapefruit Vodka w/Mojito Flavors. You'll be asking for Moj! Moj! Moj! Very mellow version of a martini but it's not like a mojito at all as I didn't get any mint, soda water or lime but it is very easy drinking.  My wife doesn't like the taste of alcohol but had no issues putting this one down! Our party was seated so we reluctantly left the cozy comfort of the bar to sit at our table of 20.  As guests were arriving and switching seats the staff decided to cancel our drink orders and start the 10 minute process again.  Many colleagues decided to order directly from the bar instead.  I was glad that we chose to drink first!  The rustic chairs and wooden tables were quite comfy even though we were tightly packed in as the chairs were wide and cushioned.  We decided to share a main coarse to ensure room for Mud PIE!  Bread was served upon being seated and it was thick slices of a wheat and molasses type bread with a dish of softened butter.  YUM Food:   Caesar salad - 9/10 1/2 size salad with mixed greens instead of romaine due to a recall was larger than expected.  The lettuce was tasty and accompanied with strips of tasty Parmesan. French onion soup - 9/10 Heart bowl full of sweet and rich onion soup with perfectly melted cheese with loads of bread and onions.  I ate two bites, turned to entertain guests, and found it to have disappeared.  You might say my greedy wife enjoyed it   Main coarses come with a choice of soup or green salad and I chose the latter. Green salad - 10/10  A simple 1/2 size portion of mixed greens with shaved Parmesan and a sweet balsamic vinegar dressing.  Yummm  I wanted to lick my plate from the dressing! Baked potato - 8/10  For $1.75 we added a baked potato with all the fixings.  It was a medium sized potato with just enough toppings to cover each bite.  It was worth the cost for sure. Stuffed Ahi -  8/10  A huge portion of Fresh Island Big-Eye Tuna Ahi* stuffed with Dungeness Crab Meat, Baked and Topped with a House Special Hollandaise Sauce!  Very large portion of well cooked crab and tuna.  The hollandaise was delicious with a touch of spice.  I would have like more sauce on mine. At last we made it to the dessert course!  We didn't need to look at the menu although I was tempted to order the Keylime pie that others have raved about. (I will get it on my next visit)  Other tables gawked as this behemoth was served to us. Mud pie - 9/10 Piled high this three layer ice cream cake had Chocolate Fudge layered between chocolate, coffee and vanilla ice cream on an Oreo Chocolate Crust, covered in whip cream then thoroughly drizzled with chocolate syrup.  I don't care for chocolate but my wife really wanted it.  I found it quite tasty as the ice cream was firm but you could get your spoon through the layers.  The fudge layers and cookie crust were very well done.  If you like chocolate then this will be a 10/10 for you!  For the record, we couldn't finish it.  :( All told, Chart House is a has the feel of a small town fisherman's diner filled with tasty food.  If you're looking to escape the hustle of the city and enjoy comfort seafood, look no further.  I was happily surprised by this hole in the wall and will be back again...I want my own French onion soup next time!!!
