Second visit. Thought the first time was a fluke. Menu very limited and small. Husbands birthday. Service was cold. Food was good. Cocktails are tiny. We dine out and travel often. Would not recommend nor return.
What an amazing dining experience.i was in Raleigh for only one night and Crawford and sons blew me off me feet. The restaurant has a cool vibe, the decor is on the darker side and the environment is appropriately lit. Staff is courteous and service is fast. I sat at the bar and asked the bartender to help me pick the food. He was really nice and gave me solid recommendations. Let's go to the food. I had the scallop tartare, pork cheeks and peach and cream pie and everything was delicious and well balanced. The scallops - tartare-  were fresh and the buttermilk ice, mixed with the sauce, provided that extra touch of tang and freshness that brought the dish delicately together. The pork cheeks were outstandingly complemented by the grits and peanuts they were sitting on. The silky bed peanut sauce added an extra complexity to a dish that could have been mistaken for an ordinary one. Amazing. Dessert was delicious as well and the cream pie came with a home made peach compote that had the perfect amount of sweetness. The fresh peaches basked in their perfect ripeness and I did with them. Every bite was a perfect bite. This restaurant is a gem and I will consider flying back to RDU just to eat here again. Keep up the amazing work.
We had a book club meeting here. It is loud in the restaurant as is often the case in a trendy restaurant with all of it's tables filled with people enjoying after work cocktails and nibbles. The food was really good. The menu is small and every dish is well thought out with seasonal ingrediants. We shared many small plates: cucumber and butter lettuce, heirloom tomatoe salad, pappardelle pasta, zucchini bread pudding and the rolls. My favorites were the cucumber and butter lettuce with the pappardelle pasta. The salad was perfect with the dressing, salty cojita cheese and toasted cashew nuts. This was one of the best salads I ever had. Also, the pasta was homemade and had a runny egg on top. The heirloom tomatoe salad was one of my table mates favorite dishes. They couldn't believe how something so simple could taste magnificent. Now, the zucchini bread pudding was interesting to try but I would not order again. It is not the most appealing looking dish. If I come back, I would like to try one of the entrees but if you are with a group with similar taste, appetizers and side dishes work too. To drink, I tried one of their crafted cocktails. it had grapefruit, bitters and other alcohol. The waitress warned me it may be bitter but I enjoyed it. There was a nice balance but could see how it may not appeal to someone seeking something sweeter. To end the dinner, we shared the lemon almond grit cake. The only regret is I did not order my own dessert. The service could have been better. I did not feel the staff was friendly and warm. Would have appreciated a friendlier experience.
