Huge crowd with a big line up of breweries! It was a well organised event with Joel from Nova mc'ing the event. Good amount of seats and shaded areas to seek refuge from the sun which was great too. Not too sure about the food though. Don't think kebabs/ nachos and hot chips are classed under gourmet food; don't think they should advertise it as Beerfest and gourmet food. Wasn't there for the food anyway so not a big deal for me. Overall, great variety of beers and ciders with entertainment. Will definitely go again next year!
Thank you Yelp for getting us down to the Fremantle BeerFest! Lovely weekend with the sun out in full force down on the Freo esplanade. Due to the weather we only went down on Sunday arvo and it was absolutely perfect. Large grassy green areas for people to chill out on. I was surprised by the number of children around but the event did cater for them well with a bouncy castle and kids area. The entertainment was sensational: a standout being Grace Barbe and Odette Mercy & her soul atomics. They had me mesmerized for their entire sets! We also caught some fantastic comedy in the yelp comedy tent; Michael Goldstein an absolute blast! Also managed to catch a masterclass from the guys at Cellarbrations who spoke about their beer bottling service - also managed to score a few free tastings! Now onto what brought everyone down to Freo.. beer, copious amounts of beer!!! A huge number of brewery stalls showcasing their best beers available. Most tastings were $2 with full size beers ranging from $7-9. There were very few free tastings - something I think should be improved given the pretty hefty entrance fee ($30 single or $40 weekend) There were lots of food trucks and stalls - many familiar faces but there were a few new ones in the crowd! All in all a fantastic event with great beer, entertainment and a few laughs along the way!
Had a fantastic Sunday afternoon in Freo hanging out at Beerfest. Great range of beers and ciders with enough food options to keep you satisfied. There was a big enough crowd for atmosphere but not so big that you had to line up for beer or food. The only line I saw all day was for the ATM. Toilets were clean and numerous as were the free water stations. Tasted some great and not so great beer and ciders from some known and some unknown brewers. There were lots of families and kids, bouncy castle and with live music that rounds out the days vibe. Sat through a great free Masterclass from the Little Creature's boys about hops including 3 free tastings. Found my favourite beer for the day, little Creature's seasonal release Dog Days!! I would say good value for money but I also won my tickets so I can't include that in my day but tastings for $2 and full beers from $6 I found good value.
