So I ordered the fish tacos and my wife got the crab legs. We've never ever done this before but we both took one bite and couldn't eat anymore bc of how bad it was. I politely called the waiter over (who was such a nice guy) and asked for the bill. He insisted we didn't have to pay the bill. We left him a $20 and departed, never to return ... unless they improve their seafood menu. Beautiful location though. And nice staff.
One would be better off with a bag of chips from a nearby vending machine for lunch than to be subjected to the deep fried catastrophe found at Bibas. From there website: "Pacific Rim fusion and traditional American favorites are on the chef-crafted menu here. We take full advantage of the abundant fresh, local ingredients in Hawaii to prepare fine options for refined palate". Ummmm, no. You can be assured your meal will start from a frozen package before being dumped into a deep fryer or microwave. I've got nothing against fried foods, in fact that's why I came--for some fresh local beer battered fish and chips and some wings. But you cannot advertise "fresh local ingredients for the refined palate " and serve your customers IQF fish and chicken from a freezer bag. And if you're going to make frying your thing, then make sure your oil is up to temperature before putting anything in. The fries, onion rings, fish, and chicken were sopping with grease. The result of cool fry oil absorbing into the food. This would usually be a one star review, but the beautiful surroundings of the Hale Koa grounds, and the friendly servers do count for something. I just feel bad that they have to serve this garbage with a straight face.
A little last minute dinner after a long day at the beach... Over priced local grind kine food for such small portions the steak was too salty and veggies were under cooked. Plus the waitress Lori took forever to come back and grab our order or even just the complimentary water... Better off eating out in town if it ever comes last minute. The Uber drive is worth the food to shiro kiya or another spot.
