Ven aquí a comer después de ver Carson Mansion. Sus clientes dicen que es una buena idea venir aquí por su comida francesa. Pide sus sabrosos calamares fritos, sus atrayentes calamares empanados y su generoso fletán. Disfruta de uno de los mejores placeres de esta vida: un casero helado de fresa, una singular tarta de queso y una bien preparada créme brûlée en agradable compañía. Cuando visites este bar, tienes que probar su sorprendente vino marsala, su espectacular cerveza o su irresistible champán. Aquí puedes pedir un excelente café espresso, una extraordinaria limonada o un delicioso zumo.

What an amazing find! Beautiful setting, gorgeous views, unique art and ambiance. Every single staff person was so friendly and personable. I needed just a table for one for the night and they put me in a perfect corner table with windows on all sides facing the bay. From the bread and dipping sauce to the rock shrimp and andouille sausage crostini appetizer to the cajun fettuccine pasta and the local IPA, everything was perfect. I'm sad I had no room for dessert because everything is house made and looked so good. Next time for sure....don't miss this place if you are in Eureka!
Stopped in here while visiting Eureka and had such a great experience. We enjoyed everything from the excellent wine pairing to the perfectly cooked fish and exquisite creme brûlée. Thanks to the staff for making our visit so special.
There is no other place I could've wanted to celebrate our first wedding anniversary than at Humboldt Bay Bistro! I called to make what I thought was a reservation and was quickly returned with a phone call from the chef/owner with the option of a prix fixe menu. I feel horrible for not remembering if I spoke to Bret or Evan... They worked with me and gave me options for my semi-vegetarian wife and me who loves meat. I was emailed a menu for confirmation that included both a vegetarian option and one with meat (seafood). For the actual experience: we arrived a bit early planning to have a drink at the bar. Lucky for us, our table was already ready! We each enjoyed a drink at the table (I had a mule of some sort and Wife had an aphrodisiac :) drink) before our delicious first course - salad with Humboldt Fog and raspberry vinaigrette. For those of you who haven't had the privilege of tasting Humboldt Fog cheese, do yourself the favor and get some! It is like none other. Next, we had a wild mushroom tower with sherry cream sauce. It was sliced mushrooms cooked down in a sherry cream sauce spread over (what I believe to be) large crispy wonton chips. My only complaint about the entire dinner was that this course was too salty. Other than the salt, this course was delicious. This course was followed up with her stuffed zucchini and tomato basil sauce, and my pan seared halibut with garlic and asparagus risotto with beurre blanc. I almost had to fight my wife off of my plate to enjoy her own plate. Both were absolutely delicious. The halibut was slightly dry and overcooked, but the sauce and overall flavors were incredible. Next, we enjoyed spinach ravioli with pesto cream sauce, and prawns with golden miso. Very different sides of the food spectrum, yet both were so satisfying and tasty!! I was so stuffed by this point that I only had one-maybe two prawns. The golden miso sauce was divine! Last, we had local organic apple bread pudding with bourbon caramel a la mode with 2 scoops of vanilla (bean possibly?) ice cream. I'm not a fan of cooked, soft fruits, but the bread pudding was decadent. I brought mine home for my dad (a bread pudding connoisseur if you will) and he said it's one of the best he's ever had. I wish I could tell you that last finite detail about the ice cream, but the wine pairing got us good... Speaking of, that is one detail I cannot leave out! Each of our courses was thoughtfully and perfectly paired with wine. The salad was with a wonderful sparkling wine. Courses 2-4 were paired with whites and reds accordingly. Dessert was paired with one of the best ports I have ever had. I'm a huge fan of port, so the surprise itself of seeing it on the table was amazing. Then to taste it... I melted. Wife didn't know I had arranged the wine pairing and I was expecting just a taster/half pour with each course. No... no.... We each got very generous full pours with each course! Trust me, I am NOT complaining about that! The entire staff and especially our server Annie were all amazing. Annie (sorry if I'm not spelling it correctly) was friendly, personable, fun and funny. The hostess greeted us immediately with a smile and friendly welcome. Like I said, we arrived early expecting to first sit at the bar. When I gave her my name for the reservation, she sincerely congratulated us on our anniversary as she walked us to our table. The chefs went above and beyond to prepare something special for us and we (I very much so) are so grateful for our wonderful experience.
