Been very many years since I was in an Army & Navy store. In 2019, they celebrated 100 yrs in business at the west Cordova location with a total store renovation which included the creation of a snack bar at the rear of the store named Jack's Place, in honour of the deceased father of the current CEO. The ceilings are quite high with lots of bright lights and white walls making the space appear very clean. The snack bar has a limited menu and there is a small eating area with tables with chair. The lunch combo is pretty challenging to beat for a bowl of the soup of the day (rotating daily soup) a sandwich (with several options) and a drink...and all for $5. The soup of the day was split pea with ham and potatoes and I opted for the roast beef sandwich. The soup was quite good and I enjoyed the sandwich...I need or want nothing more for lunch. It is like an Ikea snack bar...you order, pay and take your food to find seating. I understand that a lot of persons who have challenges in life may frequent the place and I think it is great that they have a place to get a hot meal at a very reasonable price in a clean environment. As I was there at 11:00, there was the only one other patron at that hour. It was a very positive food experience and I am happy to recommend Jack's Place if in the area and want a different downtown lunch experience at a very reasonable price.
