Not open anymore, place is up for rent
Wasn't clearly sign posted that they only accept cash so we had to find a cash machine after we'd finished our meals. The waitress got five things wrong with our order - from the wrong drinks to the wrong meal. Not impressed. The food we did get was good but was weighed down by the service. Won't be returning.
This restaurant was literally on the other side of the road to our Gdansk apartment and we had been looking forward to visiting ever since the first night when I saw the online menu. The decor is lovely and very traditional, as if we were visiting an older relation's home, with patterned wallpaper and wood panelling. As we walked upstairs to a vacant table, we passed a large table on the landing. It had perhaps 4-5 used dishes and cutlery from previous diners. Whilst surprising, we assumed that the dishes has been deposited there in a hurry to greet our party.Although the food was undeniably delicious (the dumplings were particularly tasty), there were quite a few errors/disappointments with our experience. The drinks were not correct, and 3 of the 4 of us who requested sugar free drinks (for medical reasons) received full sugar versions of the drinks, despite having specified Pepsi Max. I received fried/baked potato pieces with my meal, although I had ordered the boiled dill potatoes. A member of the party asked for the breaded pork loin and pointed this out on the menu, but when the food arrived she received the other pork loin item which was much further down the menu. When her newly cooked food did arrive, they had clearly recycled the boiled dill potatoes from the first order as they were cold and not very pleasant to eat. We did not receive the free (gratis) beer or cake with our main meals, though this was promoted at the entrance to the restaurant. The table behind us were served by another server, who mentioned the promotion at the time of their sitting down. At this stage of our meal, we simply wanted to leave. When the bill did arrive, we were informed that they accept only cash as the elderly owner does not like to manage card payments. This wouldn't have been a problem had we been informed at the start of the meal by our server or even if it had been stated in the menu (which did state that there was an automatic service charge of 10% for bills of more than 150 zloty). On leaving the restaurant, we did see a small paper sign on the door about cash only payment, but we were all in agreement that we did not recall seeing the sign on the door when we walked in at the time of the restaurant opening for dinner service. We also noticed that the table that previously had 4-5 used dishes was now laden high, and not very pleasant in the warmth of the summer evening.Whilst we are quite happy to pay the automatic 10% service charge, the bill calculations were not correct. It was only overcharged by 1 zloty and 10 grosze, but it was at the end of an already disappointing experience and left a sour taste. Although the experience was disappointing, we cannot deny that the (warm) food was tasty and we would consider giving this restaurant another chance on a future visit to this beautiful city.
