The food and service are excellent. Only a few differences to note from nyc location and they are so minor. The wine list is fantastic. I Am unable to think of anything to criticize. Overall wonderful
Originally my bf made the reservation for the Saturday night 9:00PM because that's the only time available. However, earlier the day when we passed by the restaurant, we asked if there's any time earlier and they updated our reservation to 7:30PM, which is nice so we won't be starving badly. The restaurant is small... Most of customers were seated by the bar so everyone can see the activities in the kitchen. But during the entire dining time, there's always empty seats so it seems not too popular by its pricing? We decided to order one of menu A $108.00 with Le Foie Gras (+$15.00), Le Mais, Le Veau, and Les Tartes, plus Les Caille in main course size $45.00. Bread: They offer free and refillable breads for customers. As all others mentioned before, if this is freshly baked not served cold it would be wonderful. Amuse-Bouche: It consisted of a parmigiano reggiano foam on top, port wine reduction in the middle, and foie gras mousse on the bottom. To be honest I couldn't really tell what exactly I was eating if no one explain to me. The combination of these ingredients was amazing though! Le Mais: Polenta was fried just right not oily... Shaved Iberico Ham was pretty strong in flavor but not in salty way. Le Foie Gras: Since foie gras is abandoned in California, I'd like to eat any dish with it and of course I'll have to order it! We ordered the seared foie gras and it was wonderful... except it contained lots of oil which isn't good for your health haha! You can see all the oil on the plate after you cut the foie gras... Also the fruit they served with was peach but it's kind of too sweet to eat with foie gras... For me I'd rather to eat foie gras alone. Les Caille: This is one of the famous dish here and originally it's included in the set menu but it no longer is so we ordered it separately. Unfortunately, maybe I had too high expectation but this dish wasn't really amazed me! The description said 'quail filled with foie gras' but I barely tasted foie gras; Meat part is a bit dry or maybe quail was supposed to be drier than other kind of meat? Potato puree was also very famous here... The even provided a separated bowls for some extra puree. It's tasty but for some reason I feel it's sweet in taste for me. Maybe they purposely made it that way? Le Veau: This is not on their regular menu that's why I chose it. The veal breast is soft and tender... but flavor wise it's a bit plain and make you feel you can make this at home too. Zucchini saltimbocca wasn't my kind of flavor but my bf loved it. Les Tartes: It took long time for the restaurant to serve this dessert, but it's totally worth it. When it was served, almost everyone besides us were looking at it because there were 5 tarts in the plate, makes this dessert pretty big in portion. We got mango, chocolate, raspberry, lemon and one other flavor, all delicious and not too sweet. They constantly change tart flavors and luckily we loved the ones they served this time. Madeleine: The restaurant also served its own dessert Madeleine, and it tasted totally different from the one from Costco. It reminded me of the cakes from my own country Taiwan, which is amazing because it isn't something common in the USA. It was fresh and tasty as well! Overall it was an exceptional experience dining here. Service was good except they didn't really pour water as often as they should... For some reason none of the dish was salty but we drank a lot more water than usual that's why I noticed.
#142 Every bite - from the bread basket to the dessert - was spectacular! Incredibly knowledgeable wait staff. Wine pairing recommendations were impeccable. Sit at the bar for a clear view of all the work it takes to execute this level of culinary perfection.
