Para tener una buena cena
Before I start, let me just say that I have been really split about writing this review, because honestly.... I wish that I could keep this place a secret. To sum this review up so that you do not have to read my lengthy explanation, this place I am pretty sure is going to get a Michelin star. Before, I would have said that the best Japanese restaurant, primarily for sushi, would have been Renga Tei as agreed by my Japanese friends, but this restaurant does just as well. Now for those of you who are put off by the idea of eating raw seafood, the waiters/waitress are very helpful; even maybe to the extent of too helpful. They go through the entire menu as if you do not know much about Japanese food in a way that is very helpful. They seemed to all no the menu very well. And on the topic of service, there is always someone watching you to be at a service to you. For example, as I got up to go to the restroom, a waiter immediately walked up to me and walked me (yes I mean literally walked me) to the corridor of the restrooms. That is the service you would expect. I have to expect, that I feel guilty walking into the restaurant in my gym clothes, as everyone around us was wearing business casual (East Coast business casual, not West Coast) clothes. This would be the type of place that I would take clients to. On to the most important part, the food. Can I just say awesome? Some people get the cooked food, but my wife and I always sit at the sushi bar and ask for the omakase sushi. This is not on the menu. This essentially is the head sushi chef determining what is freshest and providing that for you. And I cannot tell you, how we have never been wrong. It is always a delight watching the actual head sushi chef prepare your food and serve it to you. Renga Tei tends to be more traditional in their sushi, and this is a little more forward thinking. I am not sure how else to explain it other than that. And if you feel like you have not gotten enough sushi, you can always ask for more sushi for the chef to prepare. On the freshness, ironically the sushi is just as fresh as it would be as if you get it in Japan. They fly in all of their sushi, mostly from Japan. Again, I cannot reiterate how this is probably one of the best sushi places in the States. I would definitely recommend this restaurant a Michelin star.
