Morks had been recommended to us and this often makes me a bit nervous. Not in the least that the restaurant may not live up to expectations, but then the duty to inform ones friend of this. Happily, Morks restaurant not only lived up to its recommendation - it greatly exceeded it.Singularly, it one of the best dining experiences I've had. Full stop. Not had this year, or in years, but had - ever. It was brilliant. We decided on the sample, or degustation, menu and Morks delivered in style. There were nine sample courses and each was exquisite with balance between flair and taste.The waiting staff were wonderful and allowed time between courses for conversation. Two of our party had dietary needs, which this was understood and communicated to the Chef. They modified two of their courses accordingly, but with that wonderful sensation for the palate.When I left the restaurant, I wondered why Morks *only* had one hat award -- and I suspect this situation will soon be rectified with the appropriate two hats it deserves. It is exemplified by one dish in particular -- the duck. On tasting this, my mind brought up memories of my youth living in South-East Asia. It was akin to the scene in Pixar's film, Ratatouille, where the critic is whisked to his childhood a dish's taste and smell.That experience, although fleeting, was vivid and made me smile and reminisce. Yet even without this, the dishes, staff and restaurant are superb. I highly recommend booking for a night's treat.
