Absolutely delicious food, vast menu selection (the tapas lunch menu is so good to sample dishes if it's your first visit), affordable, and the owner is a great guy! My favourite was the garlic naan (full of garlic) and the noneer vera (tender lamb in a tomato / herb sauce with dash of cream - divine). Thank you so much for lunch today - we will certainly be back soon to try more!
I'm in Christchurch for 5 days and I'm looking forward to my second dinner at Nobanno. I had the lamb shank the first time. Falling off the bone tender with a rich (but not hot) blend of spices. If you're coming for the traditional Vindaloo you may be disappointed. But if you want to try a dinner prepared with a flavour-full blend of spices, do yourself a favour and try this place.The meals are not par-cooked like in other restaurants. The upside is the food is freshly cooked just for you (I know this because he showed me the marinating raw pork - that's what I'm ordering tonight). The downside is, that the cooking time is longer, but the wait is worth it. It's not a huge serving, but enough to not leave hungry. I rounded the ight off with the brulee. Beautifully different from any brulee you've had before. Very creative....I really want it again tonight, but I know I should try one of the others. I'll let you know... :-)
A truly wonderful experience I would entirely recommend this place to anyone if you would like to try Bangladesh food. I am told it's the only one of its type in New Zealand and that all the recipes are the owner's mother.The food was superb the service great e.g. folding napkins and placing them appropriately on our laps. A very nicely coloured restaurant with a light background music playing with a Bangaledesh flavour.If you looking for a unique night out then I strongly recommend coming to this restaurant.The music is Koto traditional Japanese.
