I don't give many 5 stars, but this is probably the best Chinese in the area, and pretty sure we've tried most, if not all. We've had many dishes here and all range from very good to excellent. Not watered down American style. There's plenty of those around. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

RPMC could = Rambunctious Palate Masterfully Charmed. This is my new favorite, non-national-chain, Chinese restaurant in the Meridian/Eagle/Boise area, based on two to-go orders in recent weeks. I could not find a meal delivery service I trust for this restaurant, so I phoned in my order both times, then drove to the place to pick up our meals. The first time I visited this place was during the height of the lockdown in my area, with full social distancing in swing, glam masks adorning our oily un-made up faces, frizzy hairdos, frayed workout togs, and a very palpable tension in the air, which is of course completely understandable, but with people also displaying more politeness for one another than what I normally encounter. &&&&&&&& SERVICE &&&&&&&& The amiable Asian lady who answered the phone took valuable time to explain well to me about different menu options, to make suggestions and to answer my questions. I could hear the smile in her voice. A fine first impression! The young ladies who handled the meal transactions in person followed the lead of their boss. Goodness me, they had the nicest can-do attitudes, cool as a cucumber, and they even offered to bring my packaged meals to my car! I took them up on that offer. Don't forget to tip these hard-working, worn-out staffers, in part, for all that they must endure. &&&&&&&& ATMOsphere &&&&&&&& How can one not like eyeing the pretty crimson geraniums and warm-weather greenery in the planters outside? Once inside the small section of lobby that was open, I peeked quickly at the matter-of-fact looking tables, not seeming forlorn about the absence of tight-jeaned keesters and sweaty hunched-over backs occupying their chairs, and the large, rectangular, red light fixtures, contrasted with a black and tan interior. No scents could I even detect, and I don't have anosmia, as the cleaning agents and essential oil were/are still strongly perceived at home. Clean place, from what I could tell. Not unusual in this era, eh? I look forward to going in to sit down for a meal here, in the future. &&&&&&&& SUSTENANCE &&&&&&&& Finally, the most important aspect? The food, in three words: fresh, juicy, flavorful. No MSG, no old oil, plenty of veggies in my spouse's Moo Goo Chicken and in my Red Ramen. Each dish tastes like they make it fresh and not in batches like too many restaurants do. So it may take a little more time. No big whoop to me! I'll wait for quality like this. The Honey Almond Chicken was lightly fried, with generous pieces, tender but well-cooked, plenty of it, with a medium coating of shy batter. The sauce is something I cannot describe, as I did not take notes, but there was something in it that made us not want to leave any behind!  I knew I wanted to get this dish after reading a Yelp friend's review. The rice, for both the steamed and the fried varieties, was separated grain for grain (not sticky), with just the right amount of moisture and doneness. Get that fried rice! It's lighter than most. Hubs and I need our food to be as mild as possible. They accommodated our requests perfectly, both times, even with the Red Ramen, that would normally pack a kicky kick, but was super-garlicky, in a good way. My Mr. liked his Moo Goo Chicken very much. No other descriptions could I extract about that dish; he was busy reading and chowing. My ramen, Korean-style, they said, was a winner!! The broth was rich and collagen-comforting, the kind you want to slurp in big gulps, so let it linger on your tongue, and let it help boost your immunity. I just was not nuts about the pork but I ate much of it, anyway. I do like that it was of a leaner cut, thankfully missing that cheap kind of fattiness that you get in ramen in my area. I think I'll get it vegan-style next time. The NOODLES: of medium thickness and maximum flavor, not too chewy and again, fresh! I love me some green cabbage, carrots, and onions, in heaps in this ramen! I believe there were other veggies hiding out in the giant bowl, but I cannot recall what they were. I would like to work my way around the menu, but I have a feeling that the bold ramen memory pod will loudly whisper suggestive phrases in my bejeweled ear to entice me to ask for it again! I am pretty confident that you shan't be let down at Red Pavilion Mandarin Cuisine. Give it a GO, and you're sure to be a repeat customer!
