I had been wanting to come to the Haunted House restaurant ever since I came across a TikTok about it! When I found myself coming to Cleveland recently, I decided to check this place out. I was surprised to find out that Darnell Ferguson, a celebrity chef from my home city, owned this place. I had been to his Louisville restaurant Super Chefs a couple different times and enjoyed the food and theming of it. And that pretty much sums up how I felt about the Haunted House. I am a big horror film fanatic so coming here had me all giddy seeing so many familiar movie characters. I also love the creative touches they added all around, like making the host's stand a box office and having TVs all over the restaurant playing different scary movies. We were given complimentary popcorn to start out, which was fun! They have different kinds of seasonings on the table that you can add as well. Their drinks are a big reason why we came, as they have so many cool options! My husband and I split a Potion Bowl (essentially a fish bowl) themed after the Candyman, and it tasted just like liquid candy! The food is pretty great, too. It's important to note that if you come during brunch, you can only order off the brunch menu. I ordered the Pennywise, which was a red-colored chicken waffle sandwich with spicy maple syrup... loved it! The service was pretty slow. Our drinks didn't come until after our food did, but our server was nice and accommodating. I'm sure they were just understaffed. I personally love this place for the novelty of it, as I love anything themed. I think if you're coming for that purpose, you won't be disappointed!

Fun and pretty tasty too! Having a horror buff in the house means we had to visit the Haunted House Restaurant while we were in Cleveland for the day. It wouldn't have really mattered what was on the menu, but they totally brought it with the horror movie themed dishes. My kid ordered chicken and waffles that looked truly gruesome and I'm told was delicious. The Scooby Snacks nachos were good, especially with the sweet and sour sauce. The street corn was okay, toppings were good, corn was over cooked and tough. My salad was fine. We loved that they brought us popcorn while we waited and we had a variety of seasoned salt at the table. Even the music was fun! The surprising result of this visit is I think they may have changed my mind about horror films. As someone who has negative feelings about slasher movies from watching them as a middle schooler, I totally loved watching them in this setting. Without the sound it shows how campy and kind of ridiculous Nightmare on Elm Street actually is, not the terrifying movies I remember. I'm going to give the genre another chance.
