Un lugar espectacular con una comida que bien merece las 3 estrellas
Experience of a lifetime from start to finish! Pulling up the doormen were so welcoming and helpful. Then, we were personally escorted to our room and given a tour of the Inn along the way. Upon entering the room, we found snacks and a personalized card from Chef O'Connell, himself, wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Amazed by this small, yet incredibly meaningful touch. After settling in, much to my delight they offer afternoon tea service so we immediately went down to enjoy delicious tea and tea snacks in cozy velvet chairs. It started to really fill up around 5 with the arriving dinner crowd grabbing cocktails so try and get there earlier. Tea and service was exceptional. Our room - we stayed in the Julia Child room which was lovely with two private balconies where we cozied up and enjoyed looking at the grounds with some champagne. Dinner - nothing short of amazing and Chef O'Connell deserves every single one of those 3 Michelin stars. I would need to do an entirely separate review for the food alone. We did the wine pairing which I highly recommend. While we were enjoying our culinary experience, housekeeping snuck into our room like magical night elves and turned down the bed, left a treat and impeccably tidied up our belongings - including little touches like putting fresh ice in our champagne bucket and placing my sunglasses on a Inn at Little Washington sunglass cleaning cloth. Breakfast was also a dream, with an assortment of delicious juices, fresh pastries and wonderful entrees. Again, exceptional service. Thank you Chef O'Connell and Inn at Little Washington for a truly memorable experience.
This place is good, but fell short of being great when we visited recently. It's certainly deserves a high placement among area restaurants, but I'd argue that there are many better candidates for single or low double digit rankings. The only dish I had that genuinely was great was the Lamb Carpaccio - the combination of the pesto, thinly sliced lamb,  lettuce ice cream and parmesan really is genius, and pulls your senses in multiple directions at once. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes were merely okay (the seafood sausage, the tin of sin) to good (the wagyu beef) - perhaps the chefs were having an off night, but everything came across as overwhelmingly "safe", and not particularly inspired. Other minor gripes: the restaurant interior was luxuriously decorated, but the tables were slightly on the crammed together side; and, it says a lot that the vegetarian menu (with nothing more exotic than chanterelles) is priced the same as the other menus, which feature wagyu and fois gras. If you are neighboring nouveau gentry, or if you have somebody to impress by splashing dollars around in a fancy setting, then the Inn at Little Washington is  worth your time. On the other hand, if you're considering coming here on a foodie pilgrimage, you can easily spend a third less and encounter much more intriguing fare in many other establishments.
