We have absolutely no idea how they're doing during the plague. I called to make an order because I saw a review dated late November of this year. My mistaken assumption means it's leftovers tonight! The phone was answered with a message saying the restaurant is closed due to Covid. In the past, we loved the clear soup, salads were good, a lunch special with seared scallops was divine, and all the different rolls we tried. We usually ordered extra wasabi and ginger, though. No losers for us. But, we aren't always the most adventurous. We prefer tuna, salmon, eel. We aren't fans of mayonnaise in any form so rolls that include that condiment aren't in our order. I hope they stay well and open when it's safe. We look forward to returning. Addendum: I had a message this review was unfinished. If it shows up twice, that's why.)

I would have sworn I had written a review as this is my go-to place for sushi. There are now other great places nearby, but none are quite as good as Tsubaki. My favorite experience was four or five years ago. I asked about a Waygu beef appetizer on the specials board. The owner was so proud to show me the certificate of authenticity; he was beaming! So much of what's served as Waygu is American Waygu. At the time it was extremely difficult to get real Japanese Waygu. He must have some serious connections. And, yes, it was melt-in-your-mouth wonderful. The sushi is incredibly fresh. I've never had anything from here that wasn't. The rolls are always perfectly made. I've never had one that was falling apart. I am seriously hooked on their peanut avocado rolls. If I've had a late lunch and want something light and tasty, it's the first thing I think of. Apart from the sushi, the service is outstanding. They are so friendly that you feel at home. And it is super clean. Everything is as spotless as it was the day they opened.
