Loved the food all the way. Great space, great service.
First thing first- I absolutely love the warm and inviting atmosphere and tones of this restaurant. For the food, though I’m most definitely not a fish fanatic, was fresh and absolutely flavorful. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful in giving recs; I especially enjoyed the handmade kale udon, topped with dried kale and paired with peanut sauce. All in all, loved the food, service, portions, and atmosphere!
Looking for someplace to eat and drink in Waikiki? With the many options around Kalakaua and Kuhio, how do you decide? For me, would be location... what's near by? If you're near Kuhio and Seaside then give Zigu a try. Came here with a few yeeps to enjoy a night off from work, and found this place to be the perfect choice for us. Located on Seaside, just north of Kuhio and on the bottom floor, below Paris Hawaii. Parking validation came be made for the Centric Hyatt for 2hrs. or street parking. Inside feels like a typical bar with a sushi counter, and a good number is tables to seat parties of many sizes. From the outside, the joint looks smaller than from the inside, but for a spot in Waikiki, this was a pretty nice sized establishment. The goods... we started off with some drinks and I personally, don't drink, but on this night I decided to have just one and was given the choice to try a Lemon Sour... not as sour as the name suggests, but was perfect for my palate. Not too sweet... not too rancid... but jus' right! Tasted like Lemonade with a hint of alcohol... which is very DANGEROUS! Too good, could lead to too many! Then came the food... we had the last order of the sashimi for the night, nothing special, but fresh fish is always ono! Next was the Zigu style poke... this is a must-have if you enjoy fish! Next was a Kauai Shrimp roll, tasty but nothing special. Then came the Fried Corn and Tofu balls... the name doesn't match the taste that you get on the first bite... nothing bad, but I didn't expect this dish to be that good! This dish only comes with 3 pieces so double check how many people you got, because this is hard to share. Lastly, our main dishes came out... the sizzling rib eye and salmon dish with miso and mac nuts... the rib eye was alright, but maybe a a NY strip would've been better on this sizzling platter... the Salmon though... broke da mouth! Get your own and don't share! Service here is very pleasant and accommodating. As the night went on, rain started to blow into the window close to us, and they constantly were checking to see if we were okay, not getting wet, and needed to move. We were okay, but appreciated the concern. With that kine of service, food, and drinks, we will be back. So if you haven't tried Zigu yet, make your way down and have a good time. Til next time... Grind On, Pau!
