Precios elevados para lo que ofrecen , en una carta muy corta
Comida deliciosa, muy buen trato, precios justos, excelente ambiente. Reserven antes de ir.
Had a wonderful dinner at Zahav and it's one of the few in Philly I'll definitely be back to. I'm not too fond of Israeli food but my boyfriend loves and and took me here for a birthday dinner. We didn't have a reservation since it was a last minute decision and we came an hour before opening at 4 pm and a short line already started to form; by the time it was 5 pm the line was extremely long, so I was happy that we got there early. We were seated at the bar which I enjoyed because the bar is really nice and you get to interact with the bartender more. We had the queen and her crown cocktail and the burn the candle cocktail. I absolutely loveeeed the queen and her crown cocktail! It reminded me of a bubblier Moscow mule which I loved. The burn the candle cocktail was also delicious- it was on the sweeter side but man I definitely got a little tipsy after drinking it! But the queen and her crown was so good we got another one! The menu is served three different ways- there's a la carte, tayhim or off the menu. The off the menu is $66/pp and it includes salatim and hummus with lafta, three mezzes, braised lamb shoulder, and two desserts. It's the only way you'll be able to try the braised lamb shoulder since it's not actually on the menu and you can't order it a la carte. We decided to do the off the menu because we really wanted to try the lamb shoulder. The lafta bread came out with the salatim and hummus and it was so good! And the lafta bread you can always ask for more (without any extra cost!) and it's delicious! For the three mezzas we got the fried cauliflower, halloumi, and roasted squash. We didn't want to be adventurous with duck hearts, etc but you can choose whichever three you want. I would HIGHLY recommend the fried cauliflower because it's so delicious and it's probably the only way I'll eat my veggies. As for the other two dishes, I wasn't too fond of them. My bf loved the halloumi but neither of us were too fond of the roasted squash. The braised lamb shoulder came out with the Israeli crispy rice and it was really good and super tender. The only issue that I had with it was that it was a little fattier than I anticipated and I generally prefer my meat leaner, but I should've expected that with a lamb shoulder. If you love lamb shoulder I definitely would recommend you getting this dish since you'll definitely appreciate it more than I did. Dessert was delicious but I got to say the fig panna cotta-like dessert was absolutely delicious! I could've licked the bowl clean In the middle of dinner, the chef care out to talk to us and gave everyone sitting at the bar a glass of sparkling white wine which was so nice of him to do.
