Tried this place based on reviews, but disappointed. Breakfast and coffee was very average and expensive. Bathrooms were nasty
A last minute decision that turned into an inspired one. Where do you want to go for dinner? No idea? Probably need a reservation. Yelp to the rescue. Discovered Bills and have it a try. Glad we did. My wife had the burger and I had the chicken schnitzel with creamed corn. On an island that doesn't seem to season their food very much (at least to our taste buds), our meals at Bills were very tasty and satisfying. The schnitzel was a pleasant change from the steady seafood or pork diet we've been enjoying so far on the trip. It was juicy, tasty, and surprisingly light (light for a schnitzel? How so?). The creamed corn was a great twist and I enjoyed it immensely. Great treat. And we received a 10% discount for our Yelp check in...though I forgot to check that it was applied. Oh well... enjoyed the meal too much to care.
Parking: IT IS NOT FREE FOR KAMA'AINA. It's $7 for the first 2 hours. With the ticket, it is $5 off of $12 parking. Please see photo attached. The waiter and the manager both checked my Hawaii state ID and provided me with a yellow ticket to insert after the original parking ticket. When I left the restaurant I assumed that yellow ticket would cover the fees. Sadly it didn't cover all the fees. *sob* dinged a star for this tragic heartbreak. Dear management, Perhaps this was an error where I had to pay the parking fees. Or there is an error on your website that claimed free parking at the BOK parking. I sincerely hope this misunderstanding will be cleared up because I am madly in love with the ricotta hot cakes. Dear fellow yelpers & hungry people, Don't be discouraged by the parking issue. Especially if you are already staying in Waikiki. The riocotta hot cakes is thick, fluffy, & topped with bananas. Get an order and share it. Or hog all the hot cakes. That's cool too. Whatever floats your boat. The FULL Aussie breakfast (AKA The priciest$24) : The sour bread toast paired so well with the sausage and smoked thick (2 pieces) of ham. The pork & fennel sausage had the right herbs and spices in it to make the meat smell and taste wonderful. This is not your "Portuguese sausage" my friends. It's an Aussie sausage. Embrace it. I liked the cumin roast tomato, miso mushrooms, and fistful of fresh spinach. I did scrap some of the miso off the mushroom because it had a strong flavor by itself. The star of the Aussie breakfast was the fluffy scrambled eggs. Plain, but texture was perfection. They place salt and pepper shakers on each table to suit your tastebuds.  Go ahead. Shake those shakers Bill gave you. The macchiato - way better than starbucks. Treat yourself to a tiny cute cup with latte art on top. Be fancy. Take that IG/social media picture. Mocha macchiato - Tasted like Hershey's syrup. DO NOT STIR. It's so sweet. Dinged half a star for this. I took a few sips & let the drink go to waste. Couldn't do it. Makes a very pretty social media picture though. Service: Attentive enough. It's 8:30am. I don't expect everybody to be super awake. At times, I wanted snatch the pitcher from the work station to pour my own water.  Dinged half a star for this. I'm usually quite patient. Maybe I need to mediate more. Idk. Maybe we all need to mediate more and channel inner patience.   In all honestly, the hot cakes snagged my heart. The parking issue is the only main issue that deterring me from coming back. Should you try this place? If you're down for breakfast and willing to fork some money for parking. Then...yes. Fork away. Happy eating and yelping!
