Discover the enchantment of Puerto Vallarta, a resort town located on the coast of the Pacific Bay of Banderas, boasting 25 miles of golden beaches and lush jungles nestled in the Sierra Madre Mountains. This place has a rich history, with the Aztecs and pirates among the many colorful characters who have left their mark.

Those who love history and tranquility will appreciate the maze of ancient streets lined with white houses with red tile roofs. You can visit the 8-hectare botanical garden or the Archaeological Museum with valuable 7000-year old artifacts, and the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the city's iconic landmark, or book a tour on a real pirate ship with a show program.

The stunning bay is also home to a diverse array of tropical marine life, including dolphins, sea turtles, and majestic humpback whales, which can be seen during a boat voyage. In fact, the Banderas Bay in this town is considered one of the most breathtaking beaches not only in Mexico but in the world. In addition, there are over 900 exquisite restaurants here ready to surprise you with their fresh seafood and variations of Mexican and European cuisine. Check out the best of them!

Ceviche
Ceviche

Ceviche is fresh fish or other seafood marinated in citrus juice with various additional ingredients. The dish originated in Peru, however, there are different variations of ceviche all over the world. Its name means "food" in Spanish or "dish" in Quechuan.

The restaurant was initially established in 1999 as a simple single-story cafe but has since expanded into a huge venue with a spacious veranda and thousands of excellent reviews. Located within walking distance of the iconic Los Mueres pier, known for its unique design and stunning sea views, the Blue Shrimp restaurant is the best place for all seafood lovers. We recommend trying Peruvian ceviche and tuna tartare, blue shrimps, baked shrimp lasagna, and Rockefeller oysters. Among the Chef Specialties, be sure to try grilled filet mignon with lobster, which simply melts in your mouth, and discover what delicacy the Catch of the day section offers.

The restaurant's interior is a delightful mix of relaxed style and handcrafted elements. The large windowless terrace is made of wooden beams with a ceiling decorated with straw rods. The walls are adorned with giant shrimp and sea creatures, antique lamps, and vintage posters, giving you a glimpse into a world of sunken pirate ships. The bright tableware and soft seats made of colorful textiles perfectly complement the natural colors of the space.

It's no wonder that the Blue Shrimp restaurant is always brimming with guests who come for the stunning views and the delectable seafood dishes. This is one iconic place in town that you don't want to miss out on!

Mussels
Mussels

Mussels are a type of bivalve mollusks, that are similar to clams and oysters. They are a great source of vitamins and have a mild, faintly sweet flavor. Mussels can be pan-roasted, steamed, stewed, or added to other dishes.

Café des Artistes was opened 32 years ago by the talented chef Thierry Blouet, who has since garnered praise from a multitude of international critics. Visitors flock here not only to indulge in exquisite cuisine, but also to unwind in an extraordinary space that exudes a magical atmosphere.

We highly recommend starting with the Temptation menu, featuring six exquisite dishes in small portions, including the likes of green risotto with fresh truffle, roasted pork belly with citrus, and chile habanero with passion fruit mousse. If you're feeling famished, be sure to share with friends the enormous serving of Tehuantapec – an Oaxaca-style mussel casserole in a stone broth, or order a hearty roasted milk chicken with a shot of black mole. And don't forget to indulge in the luxurious desserts, such as Pavlova cheesecake or El Higo, a delicious blend of white cheese, almond, crispy chia, and poppy mousse.

Café des Artistes boasts an impressive and diverse range of dining spaces. For example, the P'yote Lounge & Piano Bar, designed by the skilled Huichol artisans, is perfect for enjoying live music and tasting magical mescal. To enjoy the starry nights of Puerto Vallarta, the newly added Troje terrace offers stunning garden views and can accommodate up to 50 guests. The Lush Garden, which makes up half of the restaurant, is the most renowned and remarkable space, with terraces surrounding trees, candlelight, and enchanting sounds of small animals. Prepare to be hooked into this unique place, beckoning you to return time and time again.

Wiener schnitzel
Wiener schnitzel

A very thin piece of tender veal, breaded in flour, eggs and breadcrumbs, and deep-fried until golden brown.

Kaiser Maximilian stands out as an idyllic retreat from the bustling tourist crowds in Old Vallarta's Romantic Zone. The restaurant is more than just an Austrian Bistro; it embodies the essence of one. Adorned in bow ties, vests, and bistro aprons, the waiters provide impeccable European service that extends from the outdoor sidewalk cafe to the refined dining room. Peeking through the arched windows reveals a stunning sight: mirrored columns reflecting a tableau of white linens, polished tableware, and soft light from elegant glass-shaded lamps. The sophisticated charm of the atmosphere is so captivating that it slows down even the most hurried passersby, who gaze in awe as the waiters serve artfully composed dishes to the guests.

Kaiser Maximilian's takes a unique twist on Austrian cuisine by blending traditional ingredients with local flavors, resulting in exciting and innovative dishes. Take ravioli with fennel filling, prosciutto and mushrooms as a starter, then try their signature onion soup with white wine, toast and gratinated cheese, and, of course, Wienerschnitzel – breaded pork loin with potatoes and Austrian salad.

What sets Kaiser Maximilian apart is its location in the heart of the Romantic Zone, where the charming essence of Puerto Vallarta's traditional Mexican heritage remains intact. Amidst this stylish setting, Kaiser Maximilian offers a truly unique dining experience that combines the best of Austrian and Mexican cuisines.

Gazpacho
Gazpacho

Gazpacho is a cold soup from grinded or chopped raw vegetables, especially tomatoes. In addition, it includes olive oil and garlic, cucumbers, sweet peppers, onion, vinegar or lemon juice, salt. Spices and bread can be added.

Archie's Wok has been the top Asian restaurant in Vallarta for the past 7 years, wowing diners with its sophisticated cuisine inspired by the exotic flavors of Thailand, the Philippines, and the Pacific Rim. It all began in 1978 when Archie was invited to become the private chef for Hollywood director John Huston at his luxurious retreat on Banderas Bay's southern shore. With the support of his family, Archie has since fed thousands of foreign tourists who come to this idyllic corner of the world.

You'll fall in love with this cozy establishment that seamlessly blends Mexican and Asian motifs even in its interior design. Mexican-style brightly plastered walls are adorned with intricate wooden carvings, artistic paintings, Buddha statues, and photographs of the Dalai Lama. The traditional patio, surrounded by lush greenery, is illuminated by Chinese lanterns at night and looks incredibly eclectic.

Be sure to try their Asian gazpacho with cilantro cream, sizzling fish wrapped in banana leaves, beef tongue in Thai coconut sauce, and their signature lime and cheese pie. Finish off your feast with Mexican Coffee, a classic in Vallarta made with tequila and Kahlua, and served with vanilla gelato. You'll be reminiscing about this unforgettable evening for a long time to come.

Red Cabbage, a bohemian joint nestled on the south side of Rio Cuale, is marking its 24th anniversary of serving the best of Mexican food to the locals and tourists of Puerto Vallarta. Hidden away from prying eyes, this gem is a culinary haven for Latin cuisine enthusiasts and art lovers alike.

The restaurant's scarlet facade stands out amidst the surrounding landscape. A mere step into its cozy interior feels like a family gathering in a traditional Mexican home. It's an art collector's dream, with striking renditions of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, modern masterpieces, and classic reproductions adorning the space.

Prawns
Prawns

Prawns are delicious, whether stir fried, tossed through pasta, cooked in spicy curry, or placed in salads. Prawns can be served on their own, as a side dish, an appetizer or a snack.

Located just a minute's stroll away from the scenic Malecon waterfront, lies the charming and intimate No Se Nada bar-restaurant. Despite its modest exterior, this establishment has garnered a devoted following of tourists who come to indulge in its mouthwatering seafood, succulent salmon steaks, fresh salads, and, of course, a signature Margarita cocktail.

Once inside, take your time before heading up to the rooftop – the dining room is full of intricate details to appreciate, such as walls decorated with voluminous Aztec-style ornaments, Mariachi musician figurines, and traditional Mexican textile. However, the rooftop terrace steals the show, providing a breathtaking view of the bay at sunset and making the Margarita all the more irresistible.

Don't miss out on trying the golden grilled gate salmon served with sautéed baby spinach and shallots in a tarragon white wine light cream sauce, along with the Tequila shrimp – a creative twist on a local tradition, featuring a generous portion of large sautéed prawns that are flash-flamed and finished with tequila and cream. As well as an extensive cocktail menu, the bar also serves wine, but exclusively Mexican. If exploring the city center, a stop at this quaint bar-restaurant is an absolute must!
