What happen to one of our best spots to enjoy a nice meal! The host that sat us down , was basically on her phone the whole time we were waiting for our waitress to come out the back.(10 min.) When she finally arrived it looked like she just woke up, no smile, no welcome. The new menu not very appealing, the food is just now average. No atmosphere, no great service of the past. We probably won't ever be back again to one of our best spots. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

I really wanted to like this place, but the staff (Asian female & African American female) were horrible. We got there 15 minutes before the kitchen opened, asked if we could sit, and we were told yes. We weren’t in a rush so we patiently waited. After about 30 minutes of sitting and talking and being patient, I asked if we could order. The waitress said yes, walked away and began folding napkins at the bar area. The other waitress was prepping other tables for the “soon to be customers”, but the customers there (Us) were not being attended. It was just 2 of us in the entire cafe. There was literally no one at the other tables. It was very clear we were not going to be served and they were not there to work. I always assumed servers hustled for their tips (I’m a big tipper because I’ve served before), but nope, not them. They seemed content with their hourly rate. I’d never go back. Wish I could at least say that the water was cold, but I wouldn’t know because we didn’t get that far. Cafe is super cute if you just want to hang out, but make sure you eat and drink before going. Another perfect experience: delicious, fresh food; excellent service; and warm and friendly staff! I keep praising NM Cafe because it is "really that good." I recently had their scrumptious chicken salad platter, and I'm convinced their chicken salad is the best I've had! Also, I took home - not for me but as a treat to someone else - a piece of their incredible cheesecake. Artisinal French-style cheesecake! Light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. My server (Raven) was a delight. The person at the helm, Clem, was, as always, welcoming and kind. He ensures that each dining experience is perfect. Plus: the broth and the amazing popovers, accompanied by that fantastic strawberry butter.
