Two nights ago hubby and I dined here. My caesar salad was too salty to eat after taking a couple bites. Waiter Jason replaced it speedily misunderstanding my request for no croutons (too hard first time around) and he forgot to add the parm cheese. He brought out a bowl with fresh romaine greens just as salty as first round! After tasting one bite which hubby confirmed with me was, once again, waaayyy too salty, we waved down Jason to take it away and not to replace it with anything. He apologized and proceeded to serve us the rest of our meals.
Unfortunately my request to see a manager was never honored even though we reminded Jason a couple of times right after the 2nd failed salad. No explanation was given until the very end of our meal when it came time to pay about what happened to the manager’s visit at our table. Jason apologetically explained there was no manager on duty and that the restaurant owner was on the food line helping out and would come by soon. He also explained that there was another table that experienced their salads too salty so likely an accident happened during kitchen prep.
We travel a lot and therefore dine out frequently. Never have we experienced such a disappointment with a simple salad request. Jason could have told us from the git go there was no manager on deck when we asked him ... that is, unless the manager was suddenly ill and had to leave during our visit or maybe some employee issue came up warranting the owner to save the day. However that may be, the fact remains we felt utterly ignored by the customary reception a good eatery practices when things go south during a patron’s visit.
Again, shame on 32 East for missing the boat on doing right by us ... first and last visit ever! Will publish this in various other social media sites to forewarn prospective clients.
Salad was omitted from bill we paid however no effort made to repair the ill-experience of bad food and poor service.
Side note: this restaurant has no carpeting making the acoustics when dining room is busily popping with audible noise (usually more pronounced with drinkers) extra LOUD and quite unenjoyable for people with hearing sensitivities.
32 East: train ur staff to care more about the customer’s experience.
