My friend and I had dinner on Sept. 17th in 85TD and had a rather mixed experience. The positives: the location with the view from 85th floor is stunning and the staff is super kind and welcoming. They do their best and that helped us a lot today to overcome evident challenges in food quality. For the food, we ordered roasted goose and crispy chicken. First, they only served the goose. It has arrived lukewarm and without any side dish, only the meat. I asked them to bring it back and make it hot and serve us all mains at once when these are ready as it is common in Europe. However, it did not exactly happen as we have hoped for. They served the chicken alone, without side, and it was also lukewarm. We sent it also back, asking them to heat it up. Getting somewhat desperate, using my Google translator, I was asking our waiter if a side dish is coming, and the answer was no, they usually eat goose alone. So we ordered steamed rice and vegetables separately. The next surprise came when they brought us the sides, together with the luke warm chicken but then the goose was still missing.. I have politely asked them to take it all back and asked make EVERYTHING hot and bring these out at once. I usually don’t send back food at any eatery and it felt so bizarre. By now I had a reminiscent feeling of the old Fawlty Towers series (for those of you who are familiar). For us Europeans, cold chicken and goose for dinner is a sloppy dinner especially without any side dish. However, it may be a cultural difference as we have little experience with Chinese cuisine. In the end we got the steamed rice and vegetables hot to our table but both meats were still almost lukewarm and the goose was not as mellow as Ou would expect at such a highly rated restaurant. The cocoa tea and our desserts (oven-baked egg tart, mango sago cream) were excellent. Long story short, 2 main points for improvement: 1) for a Western taste, cold meat without side dish for dinner is a no-go so I recommend this to be highlighted in their menu. 2) Always bring together all meals for each course, not 1 by 1, otherwise it is very annoying for people to wait and their food cools down. I have to praise the stuff for their kind and friendly attitude, trying to help us to overcome an otherwise rather unpleasant culinary experience. I honestly hope they can improve as this place has a lot of potential. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $1,800–2,000 Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
