We were walking past later in the evening and just wanted a quick bite. I peeked inside and was super impressed with the modern industrial vibe buildout and intrigued by flames I saw inside. Once inside, I was amazed by the retail section showcasing an array of intriguing cheese, wine , spread and more. Unfortunately, it was already closed. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who gave us a choice of sitting inside a very cozy room overlooking the wide open kitchen concept or to sit in the back room which is outside but covered and surrounded with heaters. Aha! The answer to the flames. We sat there. Super cool room. Mysterious orange trees illuminated and softened by semitransparent screens adds an air of mystery. The menu is an eclectic twist on “classic American”. Don’t get me wrong. The menu is very cool, and so was the food. Butter salad was fresh and delicious. Lamb kebabs seasoned well, however, one skewer was rare and the other one was well done. Radiators were delicious with homemade pasta Al dente, but next time I will ask for a lot less sauce. Just my personal preference, but the sauce was delicious with a kick with fresh burrata on top. Service was quick and on point. Wine list is brief,but interesting. Definitely want to go back when the retail part is open, and get to revisit the restaurant. I had such a great experience at Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery! First off, the service was excellent – the wait staff was super attentive and really went out of their way to accommodate guests. I had a reservation, which was a huge plus as it cut down on the wait time for a table. As for the food, I noticed that the protein section of the menu didn’t have any fish options, but I went with the grilled scallops, which were fantastic! They were perfectly grilled with just the right amount of char, and the curry creamed kale on the side was a delicious and unique touch. My companion ordered the Steak Vanessa, which was made with an 8 oz Santa Carota steak sourced from the Pettit family farm in Bakersfield. The Santa Carota beef is fed a special diet of carrots instead of corn, and it definitely made a difference! The steak was cooked to perfection (she requested medium-rare) and was absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a really pleasant and enjoyable experience. We’ll definitely be coming back soon and would happily recommend Agnes to others. Plus, living in Pasadena, it’s just a short and convenient drive, so we’ll be back before long!
