Never would I have thought a to-go sushi place would be this good. I tend to order from the counter tough instead of getting the pre-made sushi from the cooler. I feel like it tastes just a little bit fresher that way (though be prepared to wait because sometimes it can take a while). The nigiri can be a little pricy, but it's so worth it. Especially the yellowtail. They don't have uni every day, but when they do, don't pass it up. It is melt in your mouth fresh.

I checked out this Marketplace in Castro Valley for the first time and I'm impressed with the cleanliness of it and the variety of foods/desserts they offer. For lunch, I ordered the Dragon and Lion King rolls, and i love it so much coz they put "real" crab meat and not imitation crab. Also, the service is great! I'll definitely be back!

Akemi sushi is a great choice for sushi in Castro Valley. Their outside dining is closed during the rainy/cold season but don't hesitate to order online and pick up your order. We've been here several times. Very fresh fish and very good service. The chirashi sushi is an excellent choice. It comes with miso soup. There is plenty of rice, seaweed salad, pickled daikon and shredded daikon. A dollop of wasabi and pickled ginger. Whether lunch or dinner, you can't go wrong. This is not an inexpensive place, but fresh, quality products are very important when eating sushi. Highly recommend!
