We are group of 9. We ordered rumali roti, mutton and chicken curries , haleem, chicken starters and kadai paneer. Food is great. We tried couple of places here but this is good. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Order type: Dine in Price per person: $20–30

I have been visiting Al Kabeer whenever I’m in Chicago, and unfortunately, the quality of both the food and the restaurant has declined significantly since 2024. When I first visited in 2024, the food was genuinely great. The interior wasn’t anything special, but I didn’t really care because the food was good enough to make the visit worthwhile. I came back again in 2025, and I have continued to stop by whenever I’m in Chicago. Since then, they have clearly spent time and money decorating and improving the appearance of the restaurant, but somehow the quality of the food has gone in the complete opposite direction. What I had this time was honestly terrible compared with what they were serving in 2024. The taste, preparation, and overall quality have deteriorated so much that I genuinely don’t know what happened. To make matters worse, when I walked into the restaurant yesterday, there was a strong smell that reminded me of urine. That immediately made the experience unpleasant before I even sat down. It is disappointing because I remember how good this place used to be. The restaurant might look nicer now, but I would much rather have the old interior and the quality of food they served in 2024. I really hope management figures out what changed and brings the old standards back, because based on my latest experience, this is nowhere near the Al Kabeer I remember.
