Good potential!. Caviat: we are a bit of restaurant snobs. My husband and I visited Young Barn Pub & Oyster Bar last night for the first time; we had a Groupon so it made the visit very affordable. My first impression was not fabulous. It took about three minutes to be seated. We stood at the hostess stand, which had no hostess, and waited to be acknowledged, which we were by a customer sitting at the bar who told us someone would be right with us. Once we were seated, the waiter took our drink order which was a $5 pitcher of beer (go on Tuesdays for that awesome deal!). It took about fifteen minutes to get the beer because they were understaffed and the waiter was underage and unable to pour it himself. We ordered the half dozen oysters, which were part of the Groupon deal, but they had just run out. They were happy to substitute a half dozen fried oysters. They were excellent; very plump and served with a kicky cocktail sauce. I recommend! We then ordered our two entrees which were an oyster basket (we wanted more of those amazing bites!) and a grouper finger basket (as someone had recommended it). The sides were very good and so were the entrees. The restaurant manager somehow was able to get an emergency delivery of oysters so we ended up getting those too. They were only "ok." Too much shell in them, a few were sort of dried out, we were shorted one and two of them tasted a bit off... but nothing a little beer wouldn't wash away. We enjoyed the decor... it felt like we were at the beach. There is so much potential in this resaturant. My husband, who is a restaurant manager, kept saying that he wished we had the money to buy and it tweak it or that he wished the owners would have him consult for free on ways to save money (he saw a bunch of ways they could be saving money) and improve the overall customer experience. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was friendly, the decor appealing and the food delicious.
