I'm so sad to hear this place closed. They had the BEST sandwiches. Their BLT, as simple as it is, was to die for with the apple wood smoked bacon. Their salads were great too. Sad to see it go.

Went here based on a recommendation. First impression wasn't the best. Maybe they were having an off day but the waitress was less than welcoming to us. We felt like we were bothering her by stopping in for lunch. The cafe itself wasn't the cleanest. Tables weren't wiped down, dust and crumbs were on the windowsills, the walls were chipping paint. Definitely needs some upgrading and a good cleaning. The cauliflower soup was amazing. Not hot enough but the taste made up for it. I also ordered the chicken sandwich. It took a really long time (we were the only people in the cafe). The chicken was overly charred. It really lacked seasoning. The most bland sandwich I've ever had. The tiny scoop of macaroni salad that came on the side was better than the actual sandwich was. For the cost of the meal, I was disappointed in both the service and taste. I probably won't return.

This place is great because everything tastes like it's made in house. It was a little awkward when we arrived for dinner b/c we were the only people dining in. The seating area is super small... However, a few more tables emerged and we didn't feel so odd sitting inside. The food is great! The BLT is the best I've had in the area. We also liked the broccoli small-plate. The carrot cake was also amazing!! B/c the slices are thin, one order of carrot cake was two slices. The caramel sauce really brought it together. The best part of Apple Wood Cafe is the fresh ingredients, making the food fresh and delicious. Quite a contrast to the plethora of chain restaurants in Buffalo!
