This place is in the worst area and I drove two hours to take my mom out for her birthday and had reservations but they told us at 2pm that they were slow so they were closing! Unbelievable! I had to wait until two weeks before to make the reservation all to have to get turned down when we got there AND I paid $30 in parking all for nothing! I will never come here again! Horrible and rude.

Whenever I visit the Hillcrest area I don't have the chance to stop by and see what food spots are nearby, so I was very excited that I finally had the chance to stop by and explore what food spots are around. So for a nice lunch I visited Au Revoir French Bistro. This place is in the heart of Hillcrest and it has the cutest interior that makes you feel very close and homey. I went around 2 pm and it was pretty empty and quiet which I personally liked since I was craving some alone time. The server I got was so sweet, attentive, and gave the best recommendations, so I am very sad I didn't catch his name. For appetizers I tried the Calamars Fris and I really enjoyed them! The tartare sauce was just right and went well with the crispyness of the calamari. I also tried the tarte fine aux poires et gorgonzola and these were okay. I personally found the puff pastry to be quiet flat but the flavor was pretty good and it was a bit messy to eat since it would fall apart a bit. For the main course I had the Steak Frites and wow was this just fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly to my liking and the sauce was super yummy. I think the star of the dish was the lavender fries. I had personally never had such a thing and I was so surprised on how great it was. I can't wait to go back and try some more food and have more of those fries.
