Worst Breakfast Experience – All Hype, No Taste Living in Turkey for four years, I’ve been to many high-end spots like Arada, olden, Seven Hills, and Pera Palace to local budget-friendly restaurants for breakfast. Every Eid, my friends and I keep up our tradition of going out for breakfast, and this year, we (unfortunately) picked Awen. Let’s just say big mistake. First, Instagram really deserves an award for best fiction because what they show in ads vs. what we got was wildly different. Their “1400 TL breakfast” turned out to be a nearly empty table, Most funniest part was • 2 slices of cheese (yes, just two because apartently they say it’s for 2 people.) • 2 tiny tomato slices, 2 cucumbers (barely a salad, more like decoration) • 2 walnuts • 2 butter cubes Things thats are usually served unlimited and other restaurants keep refilling for you they served like it’s gold. At most places, cheese, salads, jams, and appetizers are extras alongside a proper breakfast. We genuinely had to ask if the serving was meant for one or two people because it was that ridiculous. Trying to salvage the experience, we ordered extra pancakes, börek, coffee, and kaymak. Bad idea. Which made table look full and nice for pictures.. The kaymak was hard as a rock, pancakes felt like a serious jaw workout (I’ve made fluffier ones at home), and börek was equally disappointing. Portion sizes? Tiny. At one point, we looked around and finally understood why the place was empty. The view? Stunning. The food? A complete scam. You’re basically paying for an overpriced photoshoot because that’s the only thing that turned out decent. Total damage: 2200 TL for three people. Would I recommend it? Only if you enjoy overpaying for a good view and a bad meal. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: ₺1,000+ Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4
