This certainly isn’t a review based on a singular dining experience. I’ve always believed that truly good restaurants reveal themselves through consistency, so before writing anything, I prefer returning multiple times to see whether the quality, execution, and hospitality remain at the same standard. Safe to say, I’ve visited Azabu enough times now that I’ve genuinely lost count. What immediately sets Azabu apart is the attentiveness of the staff and the refinement in service. The team is polished, warm, and exceptionally knowledgeable without ever feeling overbearing. If you ever find yourself navigating the menu and unsure where to begin, ask for Eric or Kent. They have an intuitive understanding of the menu and knows exactly how to guide the experience depending on your palate. And for fellow red wine lovers, trust his recommendations wholeheartedly — the man understands balance, body, and pairing exceptionally well. The cocktails are beautifully curated and consistently executed with precision. At this point, they already know my usual order off by heart, which speaks volumes about the level of hospitality and attention to detail. As for the food, Azabu understands restraint and indulgence in equal measure. The wagyu is genuinely premium — rich, deeply marbled, and prepared in a way that allows the quality of the beef to remain the hero without unnecessary distraction. My personal staples are the spicy truffle edamame, which delivers that addictive balance of umami and heat, the beef gyoza with its beautifully savoury filling and crisp bite, the chicken karaage that remains impossibly succulent beneath its delicate crunch, the wagyu fried rice layered with depth and smokiness, and the scallops, which are always cooked with precision and elegance. And the oysters deserve their own mention entirely — generously sized, incredibly fresh, and absolutely worth ordering every single time. Azabu has become one of those rare venues that continues to impress long after the novelty of a first visit fades. It’s not simply a restaurant you dine at once for the experience — it’s one you continue returning to because the standard never slips. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I arrived at the restaurant at around 7:00 PM, however the pace of service throughout the evening was exceptionally slow. By the time the barbecue dishes were served, nearly an hour had already passed. It was honestly the longest I have ever waited for food at a restaurant. The sashimi alone took approximately 10–20 minutes to arrive, and after finishing that course, we waited another 40 minutes before the beef was served. In comparison, the guests seated in the nearby private rooms appeared to receive significantly faster and more attentive service, which made the experience feel even more disappointing. While I understand that some restaurants aim to provide a slower dining experience, the overall waiting time felt excessive and negatively impacted the meal. Unfortunately, this was a very unpleasant dining experience, and I do not see myself returning to a restaurant where such a large amount of time is spent simply waiting for food. Thank you for giving my friend such a disappointing experience on their birthday. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $160–180

Best wagyu I’ve had in Perth, hands down. Azabu absolutely nailed it. The quality, the preparation, the whole experience genuinely reminded me of dining in Japan. If you’re after authentic Japanese done properly, this is the place. Five stars. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
