I tucked into Bangla Cafe on a rainy day and had one of the most comforting meals possible in Toronto. If you were emotionally neglected as a child, these flavours (cooked by the Mom of this family) can set you straight until your next therapy session! I had basmati rice with vegetarian sides (various deep greens sautéed with sliced garlic), a hot potato soup and daal. All the textures and flavours had their own unique savoury character, but combined beautifully for a nostalgia for a past life in the kitchen of a woman who manifests love on hot plates. I was just shopping for things I didn’t need in the area, but there was something biblical done unto me by this kind Cafe owner who enthusiastically fed this weary traveller. He also offered a gorgeous ginger chai at the end. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
