I'm not sure if it was just because we were gaijins, but we were charged $54 for 2 gin and tonics. We were incredibly polite and quiet, and made casual conversation with the bartender. But $54 for 2 gin and tonics is ridiculous, and I can't help but think we were taken advantage of because we couldn't speak the language.Edit:This is not my first time drinking in Japan. I have been coming to Japan for 12 years. In every other situation in which an otooshi was charged, the bartender either informed me first, or it was clearly written on the menu. Moreover, even when explicitly stated, the charges were generally 200-500 yen.If nothing else, this review can serve as a warning to people that this establishment charges a secret 1500 yen per head fee that they do not give their customers the opportunity to consent to. It should not be surprising that this upsets people.
