As a working class parent, this is a very special treat. Very expensive, much of it is unaffordable, but worth every penny! Posh, but warm and welcoming at the same time. I drive my old volvo past gleaming Bentleys, Ferraris, Aston Martins, but there's no judgement and I get the same treatment as the most ViP of guests. Sunday roast is one of the best, only beaten by the best home cooked roasts, and the rest of the food is equally good. After a meal, I would recommend a relaxing drink or 2 in the Orchard where sometimes you may be lucky to find some beautiful live music. Service is unparalleled: seemingly effortless, friendly and focussed on the experience from the moment you pull up to the main gate. I love this place, it holds so many special memories for me, I always wished that one day I could afford to stay over - the hotel and spa look incredible!

Extremely Disappointing and Embarrassing Experience at Grantley Hall We were really looking forward to visiting Grantley Hall and enjoying what we expected to be a lovely family experience. Unfortunately, what should have been a special visit turned into an incredibly disappointing, embarrassing and upsetting situation. We arrived at the property, passed through the main entrance, were directed through parking, welcomed into the building and greeted at reception. We were then escorted to a table and seated, only to be informed afterwards that we had to leave because our daughter is 6 years old rather than 8, which apparently goes against their age policy. What made this experience particularly upsetting was the complete lack of communication and consideration throughout the arrival process. We passed through several points of contact with staff, yet nobody mentioned this restriction until we were already seated. Being asked to leave after being welcomed in and seated made us feel extremely uncomfortable, unwelcome and embarrassed. As parents, it was especially upsetting to have our young daughter experience this rejection when she had done absolutely nothing wrong. We fully appreciate that establishments may have policies regarding children’s ages, and we respect their right to enforce them. However, there is a significant difference between having a policy and the way that policy is communicated and implemented. For a luxury establishment with the reputation and standards of Grantley Hall, we expected a much higher level of professionalism, communication and sensitivity, particularly when dealing with families and young children. Luxury hospitality should not simply be about beautiful surroundings and impressive facilities. It should also be about how guests are treated and how they are made to feel. Sadly, we left feeling disappointed, embarrassed and completely unwelcome. What could have been handled politely and discreetly before we entered the property instead became an unnecessarily unpleasant experience. A very disappointing impression of a place we had genuinely been looking forward to see again.

We are sorry that your visit ended in disappointment, particularly when you had been looking forward to spending time together as a family.We try to ensure that our minimum age of eight for this dining experience is clearly stated on our website, during the booking process and on the booking confirmations, to help families plan ahead. We do need to apply this policy consistently, as other guests also book with these arrangements in mind.However, we recognise that the timing of the conversation made the situation more upsetting. It is not always possible for our team to accurately judge a child’s age on arrival, but please be assured that this was solely about applying the age policy and was no reflection on your daughter or her behaviour. We are sorry that the experience left your family feeling unwelcome. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and thank you for considering Grantley Hall.
