What a charming cafe! We had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, who was delightful and really took an interest in us. It truly added a special touch! We popped in to grab some lunch. Batavia Cafe was just what we needed! We had a half-turkey club (made with house-roasted turkey!), chicken & sausage jambalaya, salad, and turkey soup with barley and vegetables. Everything was delicious! We left with chocolate chip cookies and banana bread baked by the owner. I don’t normally eat dessert, but these baked goods were flavorful and not too sweet. The cookies were the best I’d ever tasted, and I ate each bite slowly. Lots of top-quality chocolate in a cookie reminiscent of a vanilla malt. The texture of the banana bread was perfect, and unlike most banana breads, his version did not taste of overripe bananas. It was more like a spice cake. Tasty, healthy food; nice people; a lovely atmosphere, lively but quiet enough for conversation; and a clean bathroom — what more could you ask for? Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
