I came to tampa for the first time for a wedding. Not knowing the area but as a chef and lover of good food, I did some searching around and landed on trying this spot Bayou Bodega on the Davis Island section of tampa. The food here was a unique twist on Puerto Rican and French Cajun a blend you don’t see often, but as a foodie this was a must try. I was NOT disappointed we were a party 4 and decided to try multiple apps The quiche of the day (Provençal) was delicious, the queso frito is a must try if you are a lover of fried cheese, hands down the best fried cheese I have eaten, and the guava saffron sauce is to die for. Last of the apps was the garlic shrimp classic and awesome. Next up we’re the entrees, we tried the Jambalaya which was simple and classic with a sided of an awesome chili garlic sauce to add if you wanted a little spice. The last entree was the Bistec Enceballado an authentic bit of heaven in every bite. I honestly would eat this dish everyday if i worked near here. Last was the tropical bread pudding with Lots of complex delicious fruits and an Appleton rum sauce . If your looking for something a little different but packing great flavor go check these guys out. The food and wine will put you in your happy place for sure.

We recently discovered Bayou Bodega which is on the commercial street on Davis Islands and have been there several times as we really enjoy both the food and the atmosphere. In addition to inside seating, there are several outdoor tables which are under cover and the ambience is like a European street café as pedestrians go by. I have really enjoyed the jambalaya and the red fish. Prices are quite reasonable for high-end food that equals that of the finest restaurants in Tampa and service has been excellent. The menu is somewhat limited which is fine for an occasional dinner there, but we would go more often if the menu had a few more choices.

Thanks, Roy. We only have one fellow in the kitchen so regrettably the menu cannot be too much larger. Our chef Julien is a classically trained Parisian chef, so he definitely brings some solid expertise! Thank you for the review.

Probably one of the best Hispanic food places I have ever eaten at i will definitely be returning.the service is magnificent the staff is friendly and amazing and the food is delicious please more people come and eat at bayou bodega
