Overview Pub Mooloolaba is a super-cool pub in the heart of the little tourist town of Mooloolaba, with plenty of indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Being part of the ALH Group of hotels, we expected a high standard, having dined at many of their venues in and around Brisbane, and we weren't disappointed. In fact, it even exceeded our expectations. Food As it was just my wife and me dining, we started with a schooner of Coopers Pale Ale at the special and very reasonable price of $8, along with a few glasses of prosecco to get us in the mood. For food, we decided on three smaller dishes, which worked perfectly for us: the seniors’ calamari ($17), the spiced lamb skewers ($18), and the chicken and chive dumplings ($18). We absolutely loved all three dishes. Ordering this way gave us a good variety, and there was more than enough food for the two of us, with generous portion sizes that meant we certainly didn’t leave hungry. The calamari was tender and delicious, served with crispy chips, a fresh salad, a slice of lemon and a tangy aioli. The lamb skewers were cooked beautifully, and the chicken and chive dumplings rounded out the meal nicely - six tasty dumplings arranged in a circle in a stylish bowl, with a small bowl of chutney in the middle. Service Service was first-class, especially from Rusty, the friendly duty manager. I placed most of our order at the bar and everything ran smoothly. The food arrived promptly with no delays, and all the staff were patient, polite and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for better service. Ambience We really enjoyed the laid-back, casual and chilled ambience at Pub Mooloolaba, especially on a Sunday night. The bistro area was fairly quiet with just a handful of other diners, although the general bar and gaming areas were busier. Adding to the atmosphere was a musician singing and playing guitar, creating a happy and nostalgic vibe. The interior décor is stylish, modern and comfortable, with high ceilings, strong lighting, and wooden furniture with upholstered seating. Tables are well spaced, giving the room an airy and spacious feel, and the acoustics are good even with live music playing. It’s a welcoming place that feels relaxed the moment you walk in. Cost Guests staying at the nearby Seamark Resort on First Avenue can enjoy a 10% discount, and I also used some rewards from the handy Pub+ rewards program. This helped bring the total food cost for the three dishes down to a very reasonable $40. That represents excellent value and is something we’ve come to appreciate at all ALH venues. Toilets There are ample, clean and well-maintained toilets in the venue, clearly signposted and easy to find. Summary We had a fabulous evening at Pub Mooloolaba on a quiet Sunday night in March 2026. The food was delicious and generously portioned, the service was fast and friendly, and we loved the relaxed ambience, with live music adding a pleasant touch. As with other ALH venues we’ve visited, the prices were very reasonable and the whole evening was thoroughly enjoyable.
