I absolutely loved it, went on it just before joining the M1 on a long drive and it was admittedly incredible. I just wanted some rustic place to be quiet that served fish and chips, and got probably one of my favourite pub tea/dinner experiences ever. Lorraine the server was great, absolutely loved her. The food was so so much better than expected and the ambiance was quite incredible. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Not even worth one star Booked this restaurant 2 months ago while planning our roadtrip to Scotland. I thought this place would be perfect to relax after 4 hours on the road with my family and my dog after looking at the location, menu and reading the reviews After turning up for our booking (albeit 20mins early) we were told (10mins later after settling in) that there would be an hour wait for food because of everyone enjoying the lovely weather. If we ordered starters, that would be an hour wait then mains will take another hour after that. Shocked, we asked if booked guests eating in the restaurant aren't prioritised and our server said it didn't matter, it's still an hour wait for each course. We had a schedule to keep and 2 hours waiting for food was not going to work. We decided to leave and ended up stopping at a service station. Huge disappointment after waiting 2 months to eat here and enjoy the location. Ridiculous policy and badly managed establishment. Such a shame. Update Following the response from the team, it reinforces my last point about the establishment being poorly managed. To Felicity and The Team, you shouldn't have to "work your hardest to get food out" to patrons that cannot be catered for in the first place. Seriously revisit your policy on outside seating if your kitchen cannot cope - drinks only, bar snacks only, limited menu, small outside seating menu, reduce the number of tables etc. Your main menu looks and sounds amazing and I bet the food is great. It's truly a disservice to your staff that you knowingly and willingly put them under such pressure that can be easily avoided Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Hello Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback. It is extremely disappointing to read your review. Yes when we are extremely busy, and go from doing 80 covers inside, to serving over 200 covers when the sun shines so we like to be transparent about wait times. The kitchen is only so big and the team absolutely work their hardest to get food out as quickly as possible. They do not have a list as to who is a booking, or when they booked, they simply see the food on the screen and cook it in the order in which it is sent through. Whilst you may not agree with this, it is reflective of how the majority of businesses operate. I am glad the team were honest about wait times during your visit as there is nothing worse than poor communication, albeit not the time scale you wished to hear. I wish you all the best for your travels, Kind Regards Felicity and The Team

Stayed overnight in my Motorhome in their carpark, had lunch and Dinner which was of good quality and flavour if not a bit pricey for Pub grub, always frequent the places I stay and have yet to find anything better than the Boat Inn, Doncaster. Planning to stay again in a couple of weeks (end of April 26) overnight on our way to the Lake District and Lowlands of Scotland, our tour will take us up the west coast and our return down the east coast of Scotland and England!. The actual building is well maintained and is in such a glorious position with both a river and canal on its door step, great walks with dog along the toe path and has a picnic area in the middle of the river/canal which is accessible via the bridge nearby - currently encountered a power failure to the Pub so the bottom more direct and closer road is closed of for road works, the front of the carpark has 2 large generators which are noisy but suggest you park up the top far enough away to not be bothered with them Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
