BoJack’s Broiler Pit is one of those Lewiston institutions that seems like it has been around forever. The Main Street entrance is the primary entrance, but if you come in from D Street, it almost feels like you’ve discovered a secret way into the restaurant. From the outside it can look surprisingly quiet, even when it’s packed inside. As the author of The Grant Colson Thriller Series novels, I travel extensively researching the real places that inspire my stories. I enjoy finding restaurants with character, and BoJack’s definitely has that old-school feel that makes a place memorable. This visit was unusual because it was one of the rare quiet nights. The Crash Derby was going on in town, so BoJack’s wasn’t nearly as busy as it normally is. Instead of eating downstairs in the restaurant, I stayed upstairs in the bar because I wanted a quick meal. The upstairs bar has plenty of high-top seating along with a few booths, creating a relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the steak bites and a shrimp skewer, and they made for an excellent dinner. The staff was friendly, and the service was great. I’ve eaten downstairs in the restaurant many times over the years and have always enjoyed the food there as well. Whether you’re stopping in for a full dinner or just grabbing something in the bar, it’s easy to see why this place has remained a longtime favorite in Lewiston. As a romance novelist, I also appreciate restaurants with enough personality to become part of the experience. BoJack’s has that classic local atmosphere that gives it a character all its own, making it a place worth coming back to. Posted in Idaho June 21, 2018 by Emerson Curtright This Underground Restaurant In Idaho Is Like No Other Place You’ve Ever Eaten Sometimes it’s the hole-in-the-wall type of restaurants that end up surprising us the most. That couldn’t be more true for this hidden eatery located in Lewiston, Idaho. This steakhouse may not be located in the most ideal location, but that hasn’t stopped people from coming to enjoy their delicious steaks. This underground restaurant is much more than it appears to be. Check it out. Located in historic downtown Lewiston, Bojack's Broiler Pit has been a community favorite for years. The restaurant was opened in 1951 by two men named Bob and Jack, and it's been a staple in Lewiston ever since. Bojack's is unapologetically lacking on glitz and glamour. Instead, this hidden gem of a restaurant thrives off of vintage charm. You'll enter Bojack's through a bright red door on the side of a brick building. As you descend the stairs that will take you down to the restaurant, the delicious smell of meat in the air will welcome you in. This underground restaurant lures all types of people with its delicious food ranging from rough n' tumble characters, to suited businessman, to dressed up couples on a date. The dining room very much resembles a basement. It's dark and the decor is simple. However, there's a reason Bojack's is a favorite among locals and it's not for the appearance—it's the food. This quaint steakhouse serves all your favorite cuts of meat including New York, sirloin, ribeye, and more. However, the specialty is something that may surprise you: bite-size steak! If you're not from Lewiston, the concept of bite-size steak may seem weird to you. However, it's a popular delicacy in this area and Bojack's is known for doing it best. One of the most popular dishes is the "Half and Half" which includes five bite-size pieces of steak and five pieces of shrimp served with butter and homemade cocktail sauce. Another thing that might strike you as odd is the fact that every dinner is served with French onion soup or salad, hot bread, and a plate of spaghetti. The spaghetti is tossed in a delicious homemade sauce that has a bit of spice to it. Be sure to bring your appetite. Don't let the location of this hidden gem fool you. Some of the best steak in Idaho can be found in this lovely little underground restaurant. Get your hands on some delicious steak bites at 311 Main St, Lewiston, ID 83501. Doesn’t this underground restaurant look absolutely amazing? Those steak bites look scrumptious.
