Ran out of bakery products - given the cost per item Vs what you want to charge, running out of your entire bakery section is not acceptable for brunch before 11. Overall, a pleasant experience at Botanica for lunch, service was good and waitresses and waiters welcoming, accommodating and very friendly. Just a shame that it’s a dairy free restaurant A Caesar salad, without Parmesan was a tad questionable and when I was told I couldn’t have normal milk in my coffee, ‘because of the environment’, it quite frankly cheesed me off (pardon the pun). I would be curious to know what the electricity usage for running a luxurious spa is, day in, day out is that classified as sustainable? Or maybe, the plastic cups, crockery, ornaments, fake plants manufactured in a Chinese factory from oil products, are they sustainable? Or maybe, the pesticides used in growing wheat for the bread and rapeseed for rapeseed oil used for cooking that decimates populations of birds, rabbits and bees, is that sustainable? Well at least as I walk back to my car up the bitumen and tarmac petrochemical path to pass the multitude of V6 Porsche Macan’s and 3 Litre Petrol BMW X7’s, I know deep down inside, that I’ve saved the planet by not having 200ml of cow’s milk in my coffee. I’m more than happy to send over some fantastic local dairies in Sussex that are regenerative, organic, pasture raised and considerably more sustainable than rapeseed oil, glyphosate filled oat milk and substantially more sustainable than soy milk, which is of course, one of the largest causes of deforestation globally. As I mentioned before, really lovely staff, really nice atmosphere and beautiful setting in idyllic grounds, just a shame that this hypocritical environmental signalling nonsense has left a bitter taste on the tip of my now dairy soaked tongue (I stopped for a lovely dairy infused, creamy, milky, inherently satisfying coffee on the way home in Cowfold). Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
