I'm giving 2 stars because the service was great but the food was very disappointing. Service was easily 4-5 stars, food was maybe 1 star (especially for the price) and atmosphere was a little off - like they can't quite determine what they want their identity/market to be. I've been looking forward to trying this place for a while because I heard good things about Briar Commons and this location is not far from me. My partner and I looked up the menu ahead of time to ensure they had vegetarian options, which they do ... but what we had was not very good. The mushroom risotto was a bit soupy and the rice was not fully cooked and the harvest bowl was a bit dry and bland. I really hate food waste and I generally don't want to make wait staff's lives harder, so I have never sent something back or complained about the food. For the first time in my life, I was very tempted to answer truthfully when asked, "how is everything?" Frankly, it was probably one of the worst vegetarian meals I've ever had. As a positive, our appetizer (spinach artichoke dip) was as expected and the drinks we had (a couple of beers from their brewery) were pretty balanced. Also, our server was attentive and I think even the manager(?) was making the rounds to ask how everything was. I think if we had just come here for some appetizers and beer, we probably would have had a better experience. Unfortunately, I just don't think Briar Patch has very good vegetarian options and they are overpriced for what you get. I don't know, maybe the meat options are better? Price per person: $30–40 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 2 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes Vegetarian options: Overall, the vegetarian dishes we had (mushroom risotto and the harvest bowl) were pretty bad considering the price. The spinach artichoke dip was tasty but also a little lacking.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and detailed review. We truly appreciate you recognizing the service and care from our team — that means a great deal to us, and I’ll be sure to share your kind words with them. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your vegetarian entrées didn’t meet your expectations. While everyone’s tastes and experiences can vary, we always want every guest to feel excited about what’s on their plate, especially when they’ve been looking forward to visiting us. Your feedback about the risotto and harvest bowl is helpful and has been shared with our kitchen team as we continue refining and evolving our menu. Briar Patch is very much a living, growing concept, and part of that growth includes expanding and improving our vegetarian offerings. We do have several other plant-forward dishes and seasonal options that many guests enjoy, and we’d love the opportunity to welcome you back to try something different — whether that’s additional vegetarian plates, appetizers, or simply beers and bites in a more relaxed visit. If you ever do choose to come back, please feel free to ask for the manager — we’d be happy to help guide you toward options that might better suit your tastes. Thank you again for your honesty and for giving us a try. We hope to have the chance to provide you with a more memorable experience in the future.
