This is quite simply a lovely little spot with some very unique and quirky attributes. Based in Dunboyne in County Meath the cafe is certainly one of a kind around these parts. The Broadway Cafe (like the name might imply) has a musical theme to it. Each one of the tables comes with a song sheet attached. Add to that the different bits of memorabilia displayed throughout the cosy surroundings and you’ll feel like you’re having your lunch in a theater before a show, which the background music certainly helps with achieving. If that’s your kind of thing then get yourself down here.The menu is quite varied and there are many treats on offer to satisfy even the sweetest of sweet tooth. The atmosphere is very lively and welcoming. The staff make you feel at home instantly and do go out of their way to make sure you’re actually enjoying what you’ve ordered. All too often in cafes and restaurants I’ve gotten the impression the staff are asking if you are OK purely because it’s in the contract, which is why they wait until your mouth is full, they don’t really want the answer. But not here at The Broadway Cafe. It’s a real throwback to a time when places actually cared about who was sitting in their seats.The menu caters for breakfasts and lunches mostly. They have the usual suspects in there but then they add in delicious items such as pancakes and their uniquely done pulled pork. The coffees and hot drinks leave you with a warm finish. Unfortunately their sweet snacks are located within eye shot so obviously you’ll have to take one of them for the road. You can choose from home made muffins to brownies and most things in-between.Now for the big part, the price. It’s not overpriced and you most definitely get real bang for your buck. It’s also a local start up so you won’t mind supporting it and putting your hand in your pocket. They have also started a “Pay it Forward” initiative. You can buy lunch for someone less fortunate.So if you like to go to a place where you feel comfortable and want to feel like your money isn’t being wasted then consider visiting The Broadway Cafe and Gift Shop. It is the kind of place which has to be experienced to be appreciated. The lady who started this up put her heart into it and it certainly shows.
