I've been meaning to write this review for a while now, as we visited in May 2023. It was by far our worst experience in Florence - the worst in all of Italy, in fact. We stopped by for some drinks and antipasti as it wasn't quite dinner time. Drink prices were clearly posted at a special happy hour price. As for the light food, the friendly proprietor assured us that he knew just what to bring us. What we got was not generous and not unimpressive (literally one small tomato sliced and a small scoop of olives for 4 ppl), but it wasn't dinner so we weren't worried. We expected the bill to reflect what we got. However, when we were ready to leave and received the bill, we were in shock. He didn't give us the happy hour pricing for the drinks - clearly expected us not to notice (and it was still happy hour when we left, so we weren't on the cusp). And the charge for the food was exorbitant. When we challenged him, this man who had been so charming and welcoming became VERY AGGRESSIVE at our polite questioning. He told us that we were in Florence and we were paying for the view. Let me be clear. This is not a particularly charming spot (it was fine - nothing more), and of all the places we could have stopped in Florence... the view was not a feature. It was a view of a very ordinary street. This experience was literally the most we paid for similar items in the entirety of Florence - the entirety of Italy. And we were not budget travellers, nor did we travel to budget locations. Buyer BEWARE! Edit: Credit card statement checked - 10 May 2023 Trattoria Buzzino Firenze.
