Visited Café petit restaurant Wolf in Doornspijk for the second time via Social Deal. We first had to reschedule the appointment due to a sudden hospital admission and this was no problem. The first star is well deserved. Then we arrived with four people instead of the agreed three and this was no problem either. The more the merrier, right? Then the ambiance. When you enter, a friendly young lady will guide you to your table. If you grew up in the 1970s - 1980s, you will be happy, because a lot of music is from this era. Deserved two stars. There is plenty of choice for Social Deal's three-course menu. Unfortunately the soup of the day was chicken soup and that is precisely the soup that I don't like. One of my tagelmates did take the soup and thought it was just like grandma's chicken soup. So delicious. I was very curious about the oyster mushroom croquettes, but unfortunately they were not available due to delivery problems. Then the carpaccio; I've had that before. And just like last time, an excellent carpaccio. And the warm chicken salad is also highly recommended. Apart from the small downside of the oyster mushroom croquettes, star number three. Then the main course, for me the pork tenderloin medallions and for my table companion the farmer's schnitzel. That went down with taste. The pork tenderloin medallions were cooked well, but I have one small point of criticism, the warm mushroom sauce was a bit thin as far as the mushrooms are concerned, more sauce than mushrooms. Anyway, I usually have the pork tenderloin at home without sauce, so I don't think too heavily about it. For dessert we chose the sorbet with warm cherries. A worthy ending. Four stars deserved. That should actually be it as far as the culinary part is concerned. Why then the fifth star? This has to do with two things: First of all, the price. That one is perfect. You often spend more for a starter, main course and dessert. Then there is the downside of the sauce (I do not blame this restaurant for the lack of the oyster mushroom croquette, that was beyond their control). And secondly, the service. He is friendly and the role of hostess is taken seriously. All in all, highly recommended if you are near Doornspijk. Update: This has almost become a regular spot for us, which we visit every time we are in the area. We have also had the oyster mushroom croquettes, tomato soup and the farmer's schnitzel. There is little to criticize about these dishes on the menu. Ok, the schnitzel from a restaurant in the area is slightly better, but the price is also slightly higher. Restaurant Wolf can easily compete with the many schnitzel restaurants we visit in Germany (we live close to the German border and therefore regularly cross). The soup (tomato soup, the soup changes every day) tasted great, the carpaccio is still as usual and the oyster mushroom croquettes are recommended.
