The elderly couple running the store are very friendly and kind. We took a while to figure out the menu, and only realised after leaving that there was a picture menu right outside. The pot rice is cooked to order and takes over 30 minutes, as kindly informed by the lady when we placed our order. We went with two squid pot rice and one mushroom pot rice. The squid was fresh and tender, and the meal came with a variety of simple, homely side dishes. It is indeed inside their home, which adds to the charm. I would not say the food is particularly delicious, but it feels like a comforting home-cooked meal. Overall, flavours are on the mild side. Worth trying if you are nearby, but probably not something to go out of your way for. They also have curry rice on the menu, which does not take as long to prepare.

Urashimakan was closed in March and was an empty shell, so I ate curry for lunch at Cafe Ryosuke across the street. It felt like home and had a good atmosphere. There are many side salads which are good.
