I've stopped at this Casey's pretty regularly for lunch because it's close to work, but after today's experience I'll be taking my business elsewhere. My issue wasn't the food safety policy, it was how it was handled. My friend wanted the pizza slice behind another one, so I carefully moved the front slice just enough to grab the one behind it. An employee immediately came over and said she had to throw the slice away because I had touched it. I completely understand if that's the policy, and I have no problem with that. What bothered me was what happened next. When I explained that I had tried to be careful, she responded, "No. I know you touched it. I watched the whole time." At that point the slice was already being thrown away, so there really wasn't any benefit to arguing with me about what I did or didn't touch. A simple, "I'm sorry, but because of our food safety policy I have to discard it," would've been perfectly fine. Instead, I felt like I was being corrected and talked down to over an honest mistake. If customers aren't supposed to move or touch pizza slices, I'd recommend providing tongs or disposable gloves instead of only the bags used after the pizza is selected. It would help avoid situations like this entirely. I've worked in customer service for years, so I completely understand that policies have to be enforced. I just also believe they can be enforced with kindness. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad enough impression that I'll be going somewhere else for lunch. Cashier was kinda rude because I wanted a bag after she told me I was done. They are usually very nice there. Also I miss their blue raspberry soda
