This Chef 88 location has been around for about 5-6 years I believe. So it’s experienced the COVID down time. I think they also did relatively well during that time since they offer patio dining area. My first experience with them was when I was looking for an enclosed area for a party of 16-18 people (2 tables). Daniel the manager was very helpful and created a separate dining room close to the entrance (with windows). I let them order some signature dishes and dim sum. The price worked out to be around $800 for 2 tables on a Friday afternoon. I think the price is reasonable - restaurants always have a minimum charge when it comes to rooms (包間). The second experience was a family dim sum time on the weekend. The place was full by around 11:45am. We got a table for 4 and ordered some typical dishes. Overall the food quality was excellent. We also ordered our kid’s favorite - Cantonese chow mien. As you can see in the photo, the noodle was not covered by the sauce so we could enjoy the crunchiness and add the sauce by ourselves. Very thoughtful. Daniel was distributing some lollipops to the kids too. We could feel the energy of the staff. They were happy working there, hence they provide good customer experience. Chef 88 Elite Fine Dining is a great restaurant that you can eat at for a big party or just a casual lunch. It is a dim sum place with many options. We got fried rice with chicken, shrimp dumplings, egg tart, matcha buns, chow mein with beef, chicken dumplings and fried taro cake. The fried rice was nice, but I think it needs more seasoning. The shrimp dumplings and chow mein were delicious! The chow mein was very flavourful and had a nice crunch. The shrimp dumplings had chewy outside and nice, flavourful shrimp inside. The egg tarts were so tasty, the crust was flaky and the egg was creamy. The matcha buns were good. They even had some gold on top! But inside was super hot liquid custard it dripped down my sleeve. It was really tasty though. I did not eat the chicken dumpling or taro cake. Overall chef 88 is a great restaurant. - MS I think my daughter liked this place more than I did. The dim sum was tasty but I found the chow mein too sweet. Also the noodle was different from other Chinese places I have been to. I also felt the final bill was way higher than expected. I was shocked how much we paid for lunch. I've been to other places that offered similar quality but 20% less expensive. - SS
