The taste of it is pretty good and the experience is interesting (you get to choose which crumbs you want and they mix it up for you before pouring it over your paleta). However, I think the main weakness of this concept is quite simply: you're basically eating a very expensive Magnum (and Magnums are already not that cheap). Does it taste better than a Magnum? Well, honestly, not really. And I quite like a Magnum the way it is and don't really need all the bells and whistles. Plus, the paleta base flavours are all premade to begin with, so I think it can be difficult to justify having this for dessert over all the other dessert places in the area that serve dishes which you wouldn't easily be able to get at your local supermarket. But if they have toppings you can't find elsewhere then by all means, and I do wish them well.
But what is a paleta? A Paleta is a Mexican ice cream on a stick. The name comes from the spanish word “palo” (which means ‘stick’) whereas the “eta” is in reference to the flat frozen item. So basically, a Paleta can be anything- a fruit on a stick, a cream on a stick.
The recipes and inspiration is drawn from Mexico, where paletas are very popular. Made with real ingredients, there are a large range of flavours, something fruity, and creamy. There's something for everyone.
