Tras ver Shinagawa Inter City, es una gran idea visitar este restaurante. China Shadow es famoso porque sirve platos de la cocina china. Ven a este lugar y haz un intermedio para disfrutar de sus sabrosas dim sum o su generoso marisco. Saborea despacio el insuperable té que aquí sirven pensando solo en tu disfrute.

I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but this dining experience was genuinely disappointing considering the hotel’s reputation and pricing. The restaurant has a beautiful location near Shinagawa Station, with a great atmosphere and nice city views. Service was polite as expected from a luxury hotel. Unfortunately, the food quality did not match the setting at all. The portions were extremely small — even by fine dining standards, most dishes felt closer to Chinese appetizers rather than proper main dishes. But the bigger issue was the cooking itself. We were still hungry after the meal so we went to the 7-11 to pick up a few things. We ordered Mapo Tofu, and it honestly tasted like it was made from pre-mixed sauce packets rather than from scratch. The flavor lacked depth and authenticity, and it gave the impression that the kitchen doesn’t truly understand traditional Chinese cooking techniques. What surprised me the most was the plain white rice. It took an unusually long time to arrive, yet it tasted and felt like reheated microwave rice rather than freshly cooked rice. For a restaurant inside a five-star hotel, this was quite shocking. Overall, the restaurant feels like it is trying very hard to present “luxury Chinese cuisine,” but without the actual culinary foundation or execution to support it. The result is something that feels neither authentic nor refined — more style than substance. I had seen similar comments in previous Google reviews before visiting and thought people might have been exaggerating, but after experiencing it myself, I unfortunately understand the criticism now. When I was working in Shinagawa, I often used it for lunch. Surprisingly, there are few restaurants in Shinagawa that have an atmosphere that can be used for lunch. China Shadow's customer base is mostly calm businessmen (this is not the case anywhere else), and the sophisticated atmosphere of the restaurant makes it perfect for elegant cuisine and business lunches. It's not a store that I really want to go to privately because it doesn't have a great personality, but it's a very well-balanced store and you can use it with confidence. Once, when I visited with young girls from the company for a girls' party lunch, I was guided to a private room. It looks like a group of flies in May (actually, it's very noisy when you start talking), and I think it's a response based on consideration so as not to bother other customers. Private rooms are normally charged, so we were lucky to be able to do so without hesitation.
