Chu Bakery in Highgate sits right across from Hyde Park, making it the ultimate spot to grab artisan treats and sit on the grass for a sun-soaked picnic. In a city full of trendy spots, Chu genuinely remains one of the few places in Perth that still delivers incredible value for money, serving up some of the absolute tastiest bakes in town. Here is what we ordered and why each item hit the spot: Chicken Baguette: Perfectly executed with a crisp, crunchy exterior and a pillowy soft center. The chicken mayo filling hits the sweet spot on ratio, generously packed with quality chicken so you genuinely feel like you get your money's worth. Raspberry Almond Croissant: Massive compared to the shrunk-down pastries at most bakeries these days. They haven't skimped on portion size, and the rich cream paired with tart raspberry filling is a total winner. Éclair: Hands down the best éclair I’ve ever had. Chu sets the absolute standard their own standard of what éclair can be, flawless choux, rich glaze, and perfect filling. Salted Caramel Donut: Bursting with a generous amount of filling. The salted caramel has a unique, decadent flavor profile that sets it apart from standard bakery donuts. Strawberry Matcha: A consistently fantastic sip every single time. Balanced, refreshing, and reliable, you truly can’t go wrong grabbing one to wash down the pastries. If you haven't been yet, grab a picnic rug, head to Hyde Park, and order a bit of everything!
